Hello fellow psychonauts... Long time reader here, first time poster. I just finished making my first machine and have a few quick questions.

Firstly, I was wondering if other people use Brillo's soap pads (only thing I could find in the store). While I burned the crap out of it, I definitely could taste the brillo a bit when attempting to use my machine. I've never used a piece with brillo before, so it would be great if someone could let me know if this sounds alright or if it sounds more like I'm slowly killing myself...

Also, I've seen some sources say that you want to slowly inhale while lighting the brillo to vape the DMT, while others say that you don't want to inhale but just heat it from the bottom for a bit until the dmt starts to vaporize and then inhale. What is the proper method to use the machine once its charged?

Lastly, I'm using a 147 mL bottle right now (single serving Henessy's are about 45 mL). Should this work well or should I make another once I get a smaller bottle?

Brillo was what I tried first, since there were some old pads in a cupboard... but they had this pink soapy stuff on them, even after I got rid of it the wire seemed to thin. I can't remember if it actually caught fire while I burned it, but if it didn't then it certainly came close. I'd recommend (depending on where you are) either just going to a local shop that sells cleaning products and buying some of the really coarse steel wool scrubbers, or if you are in america then you are fortunate enough to be able to get the copper ones. They are really cheap. if you have given the brillo a really good toasting and it is still intact then I can't see any massive risk from giving it a try. The brillo pads I tried were bought probably a decade or two ago so they may be different now. Did it have the pink substance on it?

As for size, that's a matter of preference. I'd prefer it smaller than that, but it's not going to stop it from working or anything. Maybe even make the vapour cooler.

I load it up, hold a lighter to it and slowly inhale... then as my lungs get to about 3/4 full I take the lighter away to avoid burning the DMT. it's hot enough at that point for it to continue vapourizing without needing the flame. Trial and error plays a big part in it.

EDIT: When I say brillo was the thing I tried first, I mean it was what I first tried when constructing the machine. I never smoked DMT with it, it seemed too fine. I also tried some steel wool that was lying around but it caught fire, lol. Good coarse steel/copper scrubbers are the way to go.

these are the pads I have right now http://www.brillo.com/steel-wool-soap-pads-car.asp .. sounds like their the same as what you tried out before. when I first burned them, some of the stray strands did catch a bit, but it didn't ignite too badly. In any case, I will be going to the store tomorrow to get the steel scrubber you suggested.

A lot of people say that copper is better than steel, if you see the ones in the link below then grab them, but any scrubber will do. I was gonna order the linked ones, but to get them shipped to the UK was gonna be ridiculously expensive.

Thank you again friend... I have made the trip to hyperspace once before using the parsley method in a bong, but it wasn't a complete breakthrough. I've smoked 5 or 6 DMT spliffs which some consider to be a waste, but I really enjoy the trance they put me in. I decided to make a machine so I would have a more efficient way of smoking it, be more likely to break through and wouldn't stink up my bong. Can't wait to have more success thanks to you in the future
