A warning to our Canadian members, there is a new bill coming about in Canada that allows the government to pull your Ip adress as well as other sensitive personal information. This new bill has got me worried considering I use my mobile device to post here on the forum. The bill allows the government to ask an ISP to handover almost all of a customers info. If this bill goes through it could get pretty dirty.

I know Traveler has gone through some steps to secure our info but I'm worried that my phone company has the username and password of this account. As well as everyone else's Canadian phone companies. Am I just paranoid or do I forsee the boys in black knocking at my door in the future?

Maybe I'm readin it wrong but it looks like if it goes through they can watch everything we do on the net regardless if on a mobile or computer.

"The Protecting Children from Internet Predators Act"

What a load of bs...i wouldn't be on alert just yet,the conservative party has tried to pull those kind of bills before (proposed gun laws) and it didn't pass. How did the public react?

Well I don't actually know how much this will be used to enforce psychedelic communities. I don't think it's their priority actually, Im pretty sure they will use that a lot to get some infos on activism activies. We actually don't get much info about that and I would like to see what kind of laws Harper got passed since he got his majority. One sure thing is im a bit afraid of the path Canada have been taking and the culture of fear that is getting stronger and stronger. More jails, more guns, more corporations hooray!

Anybody who has a sane state of mind can see the government is planning on using it for more than "protecting children"..

Brilliant move on the governments part. The piracy argument didn't work. OK - Let's expand the entire program, make it much more extensive, force IPSs to cover the cost, and hide it behind guise of protecting children from pornography.

Gotta give it to 'em. Simply brilliant.

yeah, a lot of this has started popping up. its a real worry.

Look in to TOR browsing. Its a program you download which opens up an internet browser and basically anonymizes you're IP. It jumps it around to random IP's and so in theory its suppose to be impossible for people on the outside seeing where you're actually browsing from.

It's deffinitely worth downloading if this is something you're worried about. From all i've read its totally effective; its also very simple to work with.

you can read about it and download it here:

I highly doubt that they do. The DMT-Nexus automatically sets up a connection over SSL to your computer. All data sent to and received from the Nexus is encrypted. Even if they would record all that data, they would need to decrypt it which is almost undoable within reasonable limits.

However, your paranoia isn't unjustified unfortunately. Using the TOR network would be a very good option. Within reasonable amount of time the TOR network is also capable of faking other protocols to mask it's presence, making tracking it very difficult.

My government has always been straight retarded.

Western culture is a little slow on reacting to what's going on. Look at Egypt, Greece, etc.

They've really had enough.

For a while this after noon when I tried to access the site I got a message that read:

"Not Found

HTTP Error 404. The requested resource is not found."

... thought the powers that be had got a head start on this or something

all communications with this site is done over SSL including the login, so they cannot know your username/password as well the content of the pages you browse.

^ This. Smile

The only thing they can see is that there is data traffic between the DMT-Nexus and you. They CANNOT see what threads you look at, what posts you make etc.

Crazy how this seems to be a world wide phenomenon. Didnt Spain or some European country(s) just pass something like this, and failed to pass in a number of other countries around the globe. The powers that be have spread their reach around the globe so much, that they actual are brazen enough to launch a worldwide assault on the internet. And they know we are all too dumb downed to put the two and two together........well most us. Cool
