Howdy everyone,

Looking to do a mini-dieta starting a few days before my first Aya journey next week and wanted to get some advice. I'm lacto-vegetarian and want to cut MAOIs as well as anything that would make the experience less enjoyable/comfortable. Any advice on what to eat/not eat? Willpower is not an issue, I can rock a multi-day juice fast if that's what it takes Smile

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

What MAOI's are you referring to? Many of us have eaten things like turmeric, rue, cats claw, and other things with maoi the same day and never had any problems drinking ayahuasca later

I find a diet of mainly fresh fruit goes is the best personally for frequent ayahuasca use. but really, the whole dietary restrictions thing is basically a myth created by westerners. Although many people and tribes in the amazon go on specific diets when working with the medicine, even those can definitely vary.

I haven't tried a juice fast yet but i bet that would go very well with aya. I remember jamie saying he did a juice fast (or maybe juice feast?) once for around a week taking ayahuasca everynight, and he described it as pretty profound

<Ringworm>hehehe, it's all fun and games till someone loses an "I"

Good to know, and thanks for the advice Smile I may just do the juice fast thing... Seems like liquid would be easiest to deal with on the way back up!

I'm going to second what everyone else is saying here: Really, don't worry too much about dietary restrictions. Don't eat anything too greasy or salty or heavy, try to be active and healthy in your habits, and don't eat for six hours or so before drinking Aya. That's about it, really. Everything else is just gilding the lily.

it was a juice feast I did..not fast-meaning I drank alot of juice all day long so I was never hungry. You will meet your calorie requirements this way, you just are not taking in solid food..just vegetable and fruit juices, water and herbal teas. You need a juicer though.

..if you do this...make damn sure you have a big thing of juice made to drink while journeying as well..juice is metabolized real fast and you will most likely need some.
Long live the unwoke.

Don't forget fiber...it may help prevent loose stools from all of the juice you may be drinking! Fiber is the solid "stuff" necessary for painless excretion. Dried fruits like mango or apricot are easy to digest fuels whilst experiencing psychedelia, for me at least.

Correct me if I may be wrong (about the fiber), but that jumped out at me.

:-]

Best of luck, blackberry and raspberry juice sounds reallly good!

In partial jest, I would add don't overdo the fiber. I have a blendtec which destroys things into fluid, and I generally do that instead of juicing because it takes less time to clean, however the fibrous content appears to turn me into a human cannon Smile
