got an email from a Canadian Supplier in response to a question of which Phalaris strains they have access to (as they made no mention of it on their site)..

anyways this is the response i got

"Phalaris aquatica
Phalaris arundinacea
Phalaris brachystachys
Phalaris canariensis
Phalaris canariensis Judita
Phalaris minor
Phalaris paradoxa"

gave no indication of varieties or anything ..

which strain do you think would be best? (i was thinking brachystachys from my readings but maybe I have missed something)

Any input would be appreciated!

Thanks,

The Dude

AQ1 is the strain Endlessness was able to get only small traces of gramine and mostly DMT with a d-limo extract. I would use AQ1.

I'm assuming these are seeds that the vendor is selling, in which case I would go with the brachystachys as it seems to have the best yields and the most stable alkaloid profile. Seed grown arundinacea and aquatica tend to vary wildly in alkaloid profile and are not nearly as reliable which is why specific strains were selected and cloned. (big medicine, aq1, turkey red, etc...)

@dreamer
so is it unlikely then i would get a specified var. (or strain as you called it "(AQ1, big medicine etc)" from seeds for P. arundinacea and P. aquatica?

That is correct. Big Medicine and AQ1 are varieties of P. arundinacea and P. aquatica respectively, which have been selected and spread as clones for their alkaloid profiles. Planting arundinacea or aquatica seeds is basically a crapshoot for what alkaloid profile you get. P. brachystachys however seems to have the best yields and cleanest alkaloid profile overall, and unlike the arund and aq it seems to have a pretty consistent profile when grown from seed.

I was glad to run across this discussion. I just bought some phalaris brachystachys and I was worried that maby the Aquatica strain was prefered. I did my own research as well and settled on the brachys.

Just to correct, AQ1 was the plant with best alkaloid profile, but it seems from the ones I tested, big medicine had even more DMT , but it also had quite a bit of hordenine and some significant gramine amount (though that can be removed, at least according to preliminary tests, by using limonene or likely naphtha too as a solvent). I would try any of them. Notice though, that I tested from ONE sample of each, so that is definitely not generalizable, it may be that most times AQ1 has more alkaloids, or whatever, who knows, until we do more tests its hard to say. I know according to literature (festi and samorini), AQ1 does seem like a promissing strain.

Benzyme tested some brachystachys that had 90% dmt and 10% gramine (as far as alkaloid content went). I dont think he did quantification.

As far as suppliers, we shouldnt name them here because we dont want it to be indexed on google, but as always, search the suppliers subforum:

Hi Endlessness, i have been following the other grass thread and it seems that a reliable grass tek is close, if not done.

I have a good amount of space in my garden for growing grass and i was wondering if you think it is time to start growing and trying to extract from Phalaris brachystachys using the limo tek you had success with?

Yes, grow grow grow Smile

And read the Festi and Samorini publication if you havent yet, to know which conditions of growth increase alkaloid content:

I had no intention of trying to ask for or give suppliers names in this thread, thats why i did not name the supplier in my original post (would it be correct to assume that so long as no names are mentioned here this thread is all good?). I was just asking to see which strain to go with, as the supplier made no mention of any varieties for any of the strains (is that the correct terminology??). So I think I am going to go with brachystachys and see how it goes.

I also have some random P. arundinacea seeds from years back. Do you think they would be viable still?... only one way to find out though i suppose

yeah DudeMeetTyler, I just meant that as a reminder wasnt a criticism or warning to you in ay way Smile You are correct to assume as long as the names arent mentioned, its all good. In fact if I understand correctly, we could even name them but in a "fake" way (like N0*M4D B0T*4N1C*4LS) so that search results wont lead here

Regarding what you and 3rdI said, yeah I think some people had good success with Brachystachys but I personally havent analysed it and have no idea, maybe it would be better to go for AQ1 strain, maybe not, Im not sure.. You guys could always try growing two different kinds to compare, I guess that would be best for science Very happy

My only experience with Phalaris was P.Aquaticus, which grew readily and with little maintenance in a 4 foot wading pool filled with dirt on the roof of our loft building. Phalaris is very hardy. If you look online hard enough you may find anecdotes about optimizing their alkaloid content- to date this is still a new science.

The batch we grew produced 5- methoxy DMT, which is great stuff but produces no visuals. If I'd known that ahead of time we probably would have tried a different strain. The aya I made from it was extremely potent, very challenging, had to chant the whole time to keep myself from exploding. Turned on the lights right after the peak... and not even a shimmer in terms of OEVs. No CEVs at all except for an "oxygen gauge" I threw together while I was chanting and trying to find the comfort zone of exactly the right amount of oxygen deprivation (like I said, it was a crazy trip). Definitely a steep uphill climb.

What I liked the Aquaticus for the most was simply rolling joints of it... Useless while straight, but on 300ug or more of LSD, a toke of this stuff gave you a blink of deep hyperspace, along with a sense of atemporal connectivity to all other DMT users, past present and future.

Anyway: Phalaris is great stuff, easy to grow, totally legal... And kind of unpredictable.
