apologies for any redundancy but i couldnt find anything specifically on point. i am doing vovins tek with a few adjustments, and was wondering: i have some sunnyside (light) naphtha but can easily get some bestine after some research, it appears that defatting and pulling with naphtha while REXing with the bestine/heptane is a good way to go thoughts/experiences? thanks! personally, i used heptane(bestine) on naphtha crystals thinking i could get hard chards but noticed that it really evaporates fast. I wasnt succesful doing the clear, yellow separation. I think the waterbath was too hot because i read if its cloudy start again but didnt afford the patience. what i have found it that allthough heptane evaprates faster it leaves a solvent thinner smell to the product whereas VMP naptha leaves that soft flowery DMT smell, something you could probably bring though the airport as incense salts you are working on where the heptane would raise eybrows and possibly trouble. So i am not impressed with heptane. even wiht 40% off micheals coupon it was $9 for 16 oz where naptha is $15 for a whole gallon 2 weeks later my vial still has that solvent smell

As it seems vapormeister, Do you recommend naphta instead of heptane? Regarding to the smell, I've read (I didn't extract it yet) that DMT has a strong smell similar like plastic, which is really hard to remove from the smoking/vaporizing instruments. Maybe is due to the DMT and not due to the solvent. Are you sure of the origin of the smell?

when i did my last and only extract, i used ronsonol (big mistake from what i understand due to the additives in that stuff) and it came out yellow, smelling like hella plastic... i have never had DMT that smelled like flowers but that is probably my fault... but ive also read that its a good idea to have a pipe exclusively for vaporizing DMT because of the lingering smell i could be wrong, but i appreciate you bringing it up, Istubar Turn your gaze inward and you will see the face of God.

I heard that too and I find it logical. I would do that. If you want to know some chemical properties about naphtha and heptane (pentane too), if you haven't seen it yet, you should check this: https://www.dmt-nexus.me...&m=320413#post320413

If your vial has solvent smell, you need to get your spice out of it, and let it air dry for longer. Actually better, is to use some acetone or ethanol, redisslve it and re-evaporate. Your spice may not look so nice after (might be more waxy yellow) but you'll help getting rid of solvent traces that are trapped inside the crystals. Also, be sure to do an evap test on the solvent by itself, to see if it evaps clean, before using it.
