I think we are de railing the topic for no reason this time, and you are putting my words out of context a bit. My attitude was addressed to your thoughts expressed little earlier :

Quote:
The talentless part of what endlessness & I have said arises primarily in music producers who use (almost exclusively) loops and samples that they didn't compose, and which they don't even bother to alter in any way. They take the basic loops and plug them into their songs without changing the pitch, the tempo, the sound or anything at all. They don't even really layer loops to create dynamics.

I think music released on good labels is( if nothing else ) with high production standard. It is not music produced on the fly, with un-altered loops(like you explain).Maybe me and you will find it utterly uncreative, but hey..who are we to judge. If it hits some good label than it obviously has some quality and will make it in the clubs and cafe's.. People have very different taste's in music, and very different way of living to go with it.

I agree we are derailing the thread. So, I will wrap up my thoughts on the matter by saying what I said from the beginning... I hear loops that I know well on major label releases completely unaltered. Regularly. Even on this thread. In fact, I will go ahead and say that I have heard some loops (arguably some very good loops, granted), on a good dozen releases within the first 6 months of the producer pack becoming available.

If you think record executives are able to tell how a song was made... or that they care... perhaps you have never met one. They care about one thing... the bottom line. If a DJ or producer has enough buzz and hype around him, they will sign and release him without a single care as to what he or she actually does in the studio. In fact, albums that can be made in a weekend generally make the big boys rather happy. They don't like investing a lot of money in electronic music artists because no one tends to know who they are even after hearing and dancing to a track in 20 clubs consecutively. Club DJ's don't announce the artists, and a lot of this music doesn't play on the radio.

The executives I know will sign someone on the strength of one of 3 things... huge hype, extremely unique look, or that another label seems to want it. Notice that none of these things include anything to do with the music. What they love more than anything is name recognition... for this, they will pay. Whether you are using generic loops in your music matters much less than if you look good on stage. Trust me on this.

Wow, so much great stuff! It will take me a while before Ill listen to everything you posted...

Ive done K less than 15 times in my whole life, but I quickly discovered that music can play a major role in a K hole. If you are into the stuff, I strongly suggest you to listen to anything by the Boards of Canada!

There is a reason this track was a perennial favorite for those deepest space excursions. Psychedelia drips from this like juice from a ripe pomegranate. The musicianship (live no less) is palpable... tone, improvisation... and a band that was tripping with the audience. Do yourself a favor and crank up the bass on this and lay back for a taste of the one & only band to play the original acid tests:

I've been a fan of Klaus Schulze for almost 30 years now. He's gone through many phases: some bad, most good.
But the work I love most is from 1975: Album: Timewind, track 1: Bayreuth Return.
Never ever have I heard a song that so well captures the albums' title:

And secondly, the aptly named "Just An Old-Fashioned Schulze Track", from a collection of rediscovered 'lost' tapes. It's loooong, but persevere:

I mostly listen to full-on and metal though, but I consider his music a state of mind in itself. Enjoy!

I'm liking this Klaus Schulze.

Speaking of electronica pioneers....

Bruce Haack, electric lucifer. This is from 1970. Way ahead of it's time, apparently rather influencial:

Monster musicianship. This kind of stuff is propulsive on psychs. Select the high quality, crank up the bass... and enjoy.

What a gold-mine this thread is! So much great music to explore.

My personal favorite psychedelic-type act (and favorite electronic artists for that matter) is definitely Carbon Based Lifeforms:

Interloper (Song)

The album that song is from, also named "Interloper", is MIND-BLOWING. The way these guys craft music is incredible. The attention to detail, the subtle nuances, the hidden messages... Essential tripping music. No, scratch that. Essential music.
Learning to know that I do not know.

For me, Ozric tentacles 4 life!!!!

I also like how they dont go out of their way to create an "image". It really is all about the music. Some other psy music (which i still absolutely love) i think trys too hard to play into a certain image.

But music is amazing and their is more amazing music than ever out there.

So it bugs me when people say there is no good music anymore, simply not true, you just have to look past what is handed down on a silver platter by the record monopoly, and dive in and find your music for yourself.
You have never been apart from me. You can never depart and never return, for we are continuous, indistinguishable. We are eternal forever

Pretty sweet. Starts off with a kind of Brian Eno doing Krautrock feel. A bit darker than Cluster or whatever...

Eventually it becomes modern techno psy-trancey stuff. I know some warehouse parties where this kind of thing would fit in the half-chill room. (A place midway between the chill lounge and the dancefloor)

Kudos on the craftsmanship.
