I thought about doing my next extraction in some material which keeps the MHRB-Powder inside and lets water flow through. For example Tyvek: http://www.bk-packaging....oducts/?p=tyvekhdpe-bags (a version without HDPE). Basically it would be like cooking tee, just hang the bag into the pot with acified water and let it cook. I mean that would reduce efforts (no filtering, decanting, less cleaning) and time. Also the bag could easily be used more than one time and also there is no loss of powder in the first and second pull, so the whole powder would be in each pull. Another advantage would be, that no Powder sticks to the bottom of the pot and could burn.

What are u guys thinking about it and what material would be recommended for the bag?

Your idea is similar to using a Soxhlet with a thimble. They are generally made of cellulose or porous glass.
If you want to make your own thimble, I'd say use cellulose coffee filters.

Hmm, you mean such an application:

I thought about buying this as next purchase for my little home lab but what I don't get:

1) Isn't there building a lot of pressure in the apparatus?

2) And I think for our purposes we would need a very big chamber e.g. for 500gr/1kg of root bark...

But this aparatus looks like it would be the best technique to extract. Less solvent is needed and also not much handling so it's less dangerous to get acid burns etc. Or would someone do also more than 1 pull with such an application?

the plastics in the acidic brew make me a bit nervous. Endlessness posted a phalate thread regarding this very topic. I dunno
All these posts are on behalf of Stimpy, my yellow bullhead. He is an adventurous fish, and I feel his exploits are worth sharing...so much so, I occasionally forget that HE is the one who does these things. Sometimes I get caught in the moment and write of his experiences in the first person; this is a mistake, for I am an upstanding citizen who never does wrong. Stimpy is the degenerate.
