I Guess i am creating this because i am curious to know how many here smoke, Cigarettes or cannabis, or do not smoke neither of these. I am Curious to see what i am come up with.

And for those who have smoked and quit, tell me how was the transition, i know of the many positives that are given back after quitting these substances, and how did you feel your life change.

I know after quitting cigarettes your senses are heightened such as taste and smell.

Whats up Doc,

I used to get the strong desire to smoke cigarettes once I had about two or three drinks in me. However, adding Aya to my spice routine transformed me into a health freak and I no longer have any desire to put those poisons into my body. I realize there are some negative health effects associated with the intake of any smoke... but I'm not giving up my bong rips!!

I smoked cigs for around 5 years. One day after realizing I was getting tired just for going up some stairs I decided to call it quits, and that was that.

Some cigs and many joints were smoked since then (3 or so years ago), but I never picked the habit up again.

Cannabis has been a more or less constant companion for the past decade or so. While I won't say I was ever addicted to it, sometimes it was overdone. Thankfully it's a very forgiving thing when it comes to abuse.

Lately I've been using it less and less, especially after beginning experimenting with other psychedelics. Now I realize that when I smoke, my emotions get somewhat flattened, and the outside world appears a bit unreal at times. It gets back to normal, especially after some exercise, but still, not the best sensation in the world.

Maybe it's been happening for longer and I only realized this recently, or maybe the other psychedelics changed something and now cannabis does this to me. But I think that I learned to recognize it after having experienced certain things.

While I enjoy getting high (great for playing guitar, for instance), it's something that doesn't pull me (it almost never did, unlike cigs) these days, and with the side effects described above, well, another reason not to.
This is the time to really find out who you are and enjoy every moment you have. Take advantage of it.

smoking anything daily feels toxic for me..that includes cannabis. Organic mapacho occasionally is okay, and cannabis as well but not daily. I can smoke 1 hit of cannabis at night maybe 2 nights a week and it wont bother me..but if I smoke every night it does. I used to smoke cannabis all day every day and said I would never quit and that it did not bother me..well it really did bother me and I will never smoke like that again. I had withdrawls when I stopped and not hacking up a lung all the time was a plus..and I was never a cigarette smoker so this was all from heavy cannabis use.

Also, psychedelic expereinces are much clearer and cleaner now without cannabis. I know alot of people are fans of smoking with mushrooms or ayahuasca etc..and I was as well..but I realized that it does muddy up the experience. Sometimes I will have a puff a few hours after ayahuasca though but never durring..and often I just prefer to keep the clear feeling that comes after..so I have gravitated more and more away from frequent cannabis use. Though, I still find it useful when used infrequently.

Oh also, my mood improved after I stopped smoking. When I first quit I did not smoke any for about 6 months. Also I had/have less anxiety.
Long live the unwoke.

Thanks all of you who responded.

I am feeling that i want to drop cigarettes and even cannabis, i know it will be a great clearing for my head.

I have really wanted to spice for some time now, my last use, maybe april of 2011. But smoking cannabis a lot, like you said jamie, it surely muddy's up the experience, and i am looking for one good experience when i am cleaned out, and sober.

I am very health cautious lately, i try to eat as much healthy things i can, i have quit most fast food. My gf is Vietnamese, so she is always cooking great dishes mostly of vegetables i have never heard of.

Maybe i will soon build the strength to quit cigs. I will hope to receive more responses, and take all of your positive experiences to help me get over any dependency i have

I smoked cigarettes for 16 years and the last 5 years I was always trying to quit. I quit a million times but never gave up. I have now been free from that crap for 5 and a half years Smile
And when I finally managed to quit it was so easy. Suddenly I just had enough and after 2-3 months I hardly thought about cigarettes. And now I never think about that I want a cigarette. It's probably over 2 years since the last time it crossed my mind that it would be nice to have one. And it's over in few seconds.

But I have smoked cannabis mixed with tobacco but I don't now. And that never let to me thinking that I wanted a cigarette.

I wasn't quite sure how to vote:

I smoke cannabis less than 3X a week. But that is still probably what I smoke the most. I also might have two american-spirit RYO cigarettes, but for some reason I just don't feel like they qualify as a regular cigarette. They are additive-free, but unfortunately none of the stores around here carry the organic kind anymore. Sad

I also do smoke a tobacco pipe. (Not inhaling, mostly for the taste) I have a few briars, and one meerschaum. I smoke my pipe maybe 5-10 times a month, with a fair amount of days in between.

So i suppose that I smoke tobacco and cannabis..... but for some reason I don't think I am in a position of "smoking cigarettes". Maybe I'm in denial, maybe not. I keep it in check though, and have never smoked my american spirit during the week. One or two on the weekend and thats it.

I quit tobacco for a year and then fell back into it because of a lapse of judgement while under the influence of alcohol. I quit again on 1 January this year. Smoking tobacco is really bad on so many levels.

Most nights I have about 3 puffs of cannabis, mostly because I am bored and a bit lonely. A little bit of weed makes mundane things like watching TV series and surfing the internet just a little bit more interesting. Can't have too much though because I then get paranoid and stuck in the past (like recalling all the stupid things I've said and done and wanting to kick myself because of it).

I smoked cannabis almost every day for 2 years. This was during the final 2 years of my undergraduate degree. I finished 7 months ago and have only smoked 3 times since then. I was studying in America and stopped when I returned home to live with my parents temporarily before moving to begin my Master's. I did not experience any withdrawal symptoms.

I was very fortunate to have access to high quality medicinal cannabis and, looking back, I can't think of any significant disadvantages to my use at that time (except maybe that my gf wasn't so stoked that I was high quite often). I was able to maintain a balanced lifestyle and cannabis enhanced my life, both academic and non-academic, in so many ways. Now that I'm living on my own again I'll definitely be enjoying a solid toke from time to time.

"Becoming a person of the plants is not a learning process, it is a remembering process. Somewhere in our ancestral line, there was someone that lived deeply connected to the Earth, the Elements, the Sun, Moon and Stars. Quitting cannabis and cigarettes improved many things for me. Anyone who's smoked alot in the past year(s), I recommend trying at least one month break.

So true.

I quit smoking cigarettes about 7 months ago. Best move ever. I was to that point where I was smoking more than a pack a day. I had problems breathing from the nose and was constantly coughing, always sick. Now I feel better than I've ever been, I feel like my body is free from the stress caused by the chemicals of cigarettes, and I have much more energy. Also, I haven't been sick once since I've stopped smoking tobaco.

As for weed, I used to be a daily pot smoker but eventually had to stop when I noticed it was stopping me from remembering my dreams, had a huge impact on my overall memory, made me way too lazy and unproductive, and hold me back from making deeper social contacts. I now smoke marijuana once every two or three weeks, when I'm at a party and want to enjoy my dancing a little more...

I enjoy cloves whenever I can get a pack, but other than that I don't really like smoking. It doesn't do my any good.

I favor maroccan hashish for any bud anyday of the week.

Esp nowadays when i don´t smoke everyday, i don´t like to get retarded when i smoke but i do enjoy smoking a whole spliff.

So about half a gram of some good pollem with ½ marlboro light very finely roasted and i´m good to chill Razz

I smoked a pack a day for seven years and cannabis an average of probably three times a day for seven years, now I have quit smoking cigs for about a two years with about a month long lapse in judgement but I am officially through with those nasty things!
I only smoke cannabis once or twice a day now, it is nice to take a break for a few weeks here and there but I think I will always have a place in my heart for cannabis, although I would like to quit smoking it.

Thank you for all the responses, wow it seems as if some of you have smoked for some time, i am around the 3-4 yr area.

Smoked cloves before, but now the smell of one makes me wanna puke idk why.

It also seems as if many of you took the high road and are in a much better place.
