Why wouldnt one big naphtha pull, agitated slightly more be just as productive as multiple pulls?

Ah, excellent question!

Two words: Partition coefficient

And an amazing PPT on the issue! http://www.google.gr/url...kSDgNAjdgu7Q&cad=rja

In very few words, because more pulls are more efficient than one big pull. For example if you extract with 300 ml of naptha at once and you run the same experiment pulling thrice (3x) with 100 ml naptha, you will find that while you pulled with the same amount of solvent in both cases, the "pulling in smaller increments" method yields more!

Also the alkaloids are only slightly soluble in naptha. Doing more than 3 would be recommended. It's a good re-crystallization solvent, but a poor extraction solvent for tryptamines.

warming the solvent with a double boiler helps as well I find. Be careful though and never play around with solvents and open flames etc..

I cant get my product to not smell like naphtha.. or even IPA if I try to cleanse, even when leaving it for over 24 hours.

So you are saying that I can pull with ether, let it evaporate completely, then dissolve in naphta for freezing?
