I have heard that Salvia can help one deal with depression. I smoked enough 10X for a minimal breakthrough and it was very strange, how might one use this to help with depression I wonder? Is there a method of administration or strength I should be pursuing?

I tried some liquid extract and it was different than when smoked, is this because it is just isolated Salvinoran-A, sort of like THC extracted from MJ, which I have heard is not at all as enjoyable as "whole" MJ. I like the slower come on of the tincture though, but I did not feel any obvious anti-depressant or spiritual effects, maybe this takes time or requires quids? All ideas are welcome!

Good quality Syrian rue (Peganum harmala) for an incredible price!

Never took salvia as i read some people went a little kuku after use

also never took ketamine but i have seen studies prooving its efficiency in depression treatment. Check pubmed for the science, cant link to it myself right now.

Just my two cents here so feel free to ignore me, but in my opinion trying to self medicate depression with powerful hallucinogens may not be the best idea. I think, for me at least, taking things like enhanced salvia would have been just as likely to make me feel worse.

For me the best help was finding something to occupy my time that seemed worthwhile (i worked as a fundraiser for a cancer research charity).

In my experience, it's about as useful for depression as any other psychedelic, but...

There is definitely something about it that *can make one feel content if used just so. In my case, sublingual on top of smoked doses, 3 days a week left me feeling anti-depressant qualities for sure, and in a way that might set it apart from other psychedelics. There is no doubt about the fact that it helped put me in a good place, albeit a very tripped out place, and to the point of never being able to ever enjoy MJ the same way again...lol

Salvia can really stick to your bones if used this way, but if one were to venture that way with depression in mind they might want to think about adding sublingual to the mix and lowering the X in their smokeables.

It does indeed have AD effects, worked a charm for me anyway. Daily or x3 a week micro-dosing is better than the occasional "trippy dose".
I would empathise that I habitually self-medicate minor depression-seasonal effective disorder which is not quite the same as major depression, that may require
the services of a professional

Peace

I know that NPR recently reported findings that psilocybin mushrooms can help with depression, but I don't know of any research along the same lines for salvia. I do have depression, for which I usually take kratom extracts, but I also get salvia extracts at [mod edit: no talking of buying/selling!] and normally I only get effects as the 30x level. And I'm talking about trippy effects, not depression-reducing effects.

If you are trying to use salvia for it's anti-depressive effects, then plain foliage is the way to go! If you can get some plain ol dried salvia, that would work the best, IMO.

- Much easier to dose, just load a bowl, chances are you really wont feel much the first couple of times
- It has reverse-tolerance, so the more you smoke it, the less you need for moar healing.
- It is also anti addictive, I have found myself having to convince myself I need some.

If you do one or two big pulls at night for a couple weeks, I guaruntee that by the end of the second week you will be delving deep with a simple toke.

But if you decide to treat your depression this way, please keep track of yourself. If you feel it helping, then awesome! But if it starts seeming to do more harm then good, I.E. depersonalization, then stop. Your body provides ample feedback if you listen.
