I believe reincarnation sounds good... but not in the typical sense, but in a more physical sense. As far as I know the only things that exist are in this realm such as our bodies, brains, and consciousness... which makes them all completely natural. So death (the brain stops functioning, etc) is purely physical, yet you'll be "reincarnated" in a purely physical sense. The quote in my signature is what I'm trying to get at. We are made up of the same materials and the rest of the universe so when we die it will be NO different than when we are living except the energy bouncing around in our brain won't be there. We're made up of the elements of the universe now and will be when we die, then these elements will travel, in the lifetime of the universe, all throughout the universe to distant galaxies, to the rain, to the dirt, to the rivers, to the nebulas... and that is why death is (in some sense) beautiful.
However, since I am human I won't be as brave as I may have lead some to believe from above. I thought I was dying one night on DXM (a no good substance) and I pondered death... this is what I felt: loneliness, from leaving my family and friends... but not very much sadness at all.
I've pondered death since then, and since I also believe my first paragraph then I find comfort in knowing that when I die I'll be ALL AROUND EVERYONE I LOVE, more so than I could at any time while living (though I may not be "aware" of it once dead).
But with this philosophy I believe I will find a sense of calming comfort when finally faced with death.
“Recognize that the very molecules that make up your body, the atoms that construct the molecules, are traceable to the crucibles that were once the centers of high mass stars that exploded their chemically rich guts into the galaxy, enriching pristine gas clouds with the chemistry of life. So that we are all connected to each other biologically, to the earth chemically and to the rest of the universe atomically. That’s kinda cool! That makes me smile and I actually feel quite large at the end of that. It’s not that we are better than the universe, we are part of the universe. We are in the universe and the universe is in us.”
