Is anyone else scared shitless of going Kennedy style? Or having their head like run over by a steamroller? Any way you die where your brain is destroyed instantly and you might not get that final blastoff. Since the perceived tastes of the afterlife that happen during near death scenarios have been speculated to be caused by DMT, maybe all the afterlife is is an eternity in hyperspace that only lasts a few minutes here on earth.

So it may sound silly, but I'm scared of (maybe) being deprived of an afterlife if I die the wrong way.

And yeah, I know the whole DMT at death thing hasn't been proven.

My biggest fear is falling to the hordes of the zombie apocalypse and having my pineal gland ripped out and eaten. Because everyone knows you can't be reborn without an intact pineal gland.
The Earth
It spins and shakes
It spits you out
It knows your name

I'm a pathological liar.

It's my understanding that there isn't actually any scientific basis for claims that DMT is released when you die or when you are dreaming, or that it is even made in the pineal... http://www.erowid.org/ch.../dmt/dmt_article2.shtml

It's definitely made in the body somewhere for some purpose, probably so we keep believing that this reality is actually real Razz

I do not know where i will go when life leaves my body,
but i do know that i will be well prepared for the journey.
The more you try to know, the more mysterious life gets..

Nicely said. Smile
Slewb, I totally have the same hypothesis on afterlife. Pleased

Although, my reason being because I haven't come to another acceptible theory I find comfort in just yet. Razz
Can't say I've ever really thought about my brain being intact or attached when I go lol.
Simple & Informative;MAOI's & oral ingestion

I've often wondered the same! Psychedelics show us that the subjective passing of time can be greatly - I don't want to say distorted, because who knowsVery happy - altered. To me, it seems like a plausible hypothesis.
This is the time to really find out who you are and enjoy every moment you have. Take advantage of it.

Yeah, I'd heard. I'm just saying if it is released at death. Why do people think it is? Just because of the experience?

I would have to assume there's a natural sense of connection between the two simply because there aren't many other experiences in "life" when your waking consciousness is ejected from your body and thrust into another realm of... existence... for lack of a better term.

The interesting question to ponder (at least for me, from a spiritual standpoint) is who is the "I" that is having the experience, if the connection to body is severed and the ego-self can be so utterly annihilated in the process? I don't have an answer, but it is *the* question for me, at least.

Yup, it's definitely been found in trace amounts in many living things (plants, animals). However, it being released in your brain while dreaming or in NDEs was just a theory proposed by Dr. Strassman in The Spirit Molecule that has been blown up out of proportion. I will say however that many of the experiences are similar to experiences on DMT, so who knows.... hopefully we will someday.
“Recognize that the very molecules that make up your body, the atoms that construct the molecules, are traceable to the crucibles that were once the centers of high mass stars that exploded their chemically rich guts into the galaxy, enriching pristine gas clouds with the chemistry of life. So that we are all connected to each other biologically, to the earth chemically and to the rest of the universe atomically. That’s kinda cool! That makes me smile and I actually feel quite large at the end of that. It’s not that we are better than the universe, we are part of the universe. We are in the universe and the universe is in us.”

I was taught that when the "I" is destroyed, the "is" is all that's left, and I believe that. A pure existence that simply is, without the self or this world. That's what DMT feels like to me.
