Hi all,

I've tried DMT in a number of different forms. Initially, I tried smoking a pale yellow, waxy DMT that resulted from a Naphtha extraction. I had some interesting experiences with that, but I hate the taste of the smoke and I found it was pretty much impossible for me to break through on the stuff by smoking because I could never get in enough quickly enough, even when using improvised freebase pipes. I'll still give smoking a try once in a while, but I greatly prefer to do DMT via some oral method. I've done pharmahuasca on a number of occasions and I've had some great experiences with it. My pharmahuasca is typically around 400mgs of harmine/harmaline and anywhere from 100 to 300 mgs of yellow/waxy DMT or Jungle Spice or some combo of the two.

As of late, I've become interested in seeing if there's perhaps more to the MHRB than what I've been extracting. On a few occasions, I've used alcohol to extract the MHRB. When the alcohol evaporates, I'm left with this very cool looking "cake" that kind of looks like frozen lava. I've gone on to do extractions from that cake, but I'm interested in knowing what kind of experience I could expect from powdering, capsuling and consuming this substance (while being properly inhibited of MAO, of course). I've heard that there's a number of alkaloids in MHRB that are destroyed with heat and that aren't extracted by any of the typical non-polar solvents such as Naphtha or d-limonene. Has anyone tried this before? Would this stuff be extremely hard on my stomach, as I'd imagine that pretty much all of the tannins in the bark would be extracted by the alcohol? Is this an efficient way of using bark? Thanks in advance for any replies.

Hi Staresatwalls,

Yes, I have heard about the MHRB cake method. That's basically what I've done, however I didn't basify the water/alcohol as I'm considering ingesting the actual hardened goop which is the result of the extraction. As of now, I've got a good amount of deep, dark red, almost black sludge. I'd like to try consuming a good amount of the stuff after MAO inhibition, but I'm kind of concerned of the high level of tannins that's most likely in this extraction.

Let us know how it goes..how was the alcohol extraction..easy? What kind of alcohol did you use?

The alcohol extraction was very easy. I used 190 proof Everclear. Basically I just added about 250ml of Everclear to the bark, let it sit for a few hours and then strained out the alcohol. I did this three times and combined the resulting black alcohol. Then I just let that evaporate in front of a space heater and I was left with what pretty much looks like obsidian or hardened lava. This could then be broken apart kind of like peanut brittle. One you've got it in what looks like chunks of black (or very deep red) glass, you can powder it very easily. From about 300gm of bark, I got around 150gm of the finished powder. I'd recommend adding some lemon juice or citric acid to the alcohol prior to evaporating. I did this after, but it would have saved a good amount of time if I did it first.

I think I'll be trying around 8 grams of this powder tomorrow. In the past, I've had about 4 grams of this powder. The effects were very quick and I only got mild visuals. I had no stomach issues at this dose. I'm hoping tomorrow will be a good deal more powerful. Not only will I be taking about twice as much, but I remembered to use citric acid this time around and MAO inhibition will not be a factor. I'll definitely provide an update.

At one point I calculated the tannin content of a MeOH extraction at 20%+ This was from precipitation of the tannins which form the majority of the red coloration from what I could observe.

Well, I gave it a try and I have to say that overall, it's not worth it. I started off with around 450mg of harmine. That gave me a tiny bit of nausea, but nothing bad. I took 10 00 pills filled with the extract for a total of ~6.5 grams. About an hour later, I was definitely getting effects, but things seemed rather dark and foreboding, not the uplifting kind of experience I typically get with extracted spice. About 40 minutes after the effects started kicking in, I started getting VERY nauseous. I should let you know that I have a very strong stomach and I had only thrown up due to any kind of 'huasca once prior. I vomited rather violently for a few minutes, it was pretty bad. I could taste the tannins coming up, I'm quite sure I puked due to the tannins. I'm going to take the rest of this extract, remove them from the pills and do an STB on it. In my mind, there's just no reason to consume bark this way unless you have no other method of extracting the spice. Sorry to disappoint, but I'd like to spare you the experience if possible.
