So d-limonene is a solvent, one used as a thinner/cleaner by some oil painters. Last night I was about to paint a picture, a simple little affair of psychedelic sworls and spheres. I wanted to thin my paint...instead of reaching for turpentine, I reached for a jar of used limonene.



There is DMT inside my painting.

Why not make a mimosa hostilis paint???

Mimosa makes a fine dye.

Plant based pigments tend to turn brown in short time. I've been interested in making my own paint for years...early experiemnts with various flowers and berries all rendered paintings that turned brown with a year or so.

These days I purchase iron oxide paints (and have jars filled with old nails, rusting away in water, or salt water, or acid, ect, oxidising at various rates to yeild various pigments). Egg yolk and/or walnut oil are my usual mediums.

And my talents are humble at best. Whatever. I'll tell people these are psychedlic paintings. Trust me, "they're trippier than they look".

Respect to your art. But i really think it makes sense to paint with mimosa hostilis fade or no fade. if it is used as a dye, it should work, etc. It also seems natural to use it as a painting medium.But up to u.
