Hello forum,

I just got a ChoreBoy copper mesh sponge and, after some vigorous burning with a torch lighter, it now looks all black and there's some metallic dust coming out of it. Now I'm afraid of inhaling that stuff. How do I completely get rid of it? Do I need to wash the mesh?

thanks

EDIT: so I washed it and then used the lighter again to dry it up. However, what I noticed is that the wire itself burns quite fast. So how do i burn the coating without burning the wire?

Good quality Syrian rue (Peganum harmala) for an incredible price!

Chore-boys are nasty. Try using a wad of high-quality speaker wire or the copper braid from a TV antenna coax.

Cheers!

Why do you say that?

According to the Chore Boy site, their copper scrubbers are 99.997% pure copper. That’s at least as pure as antenna wire.

And Chore Boy scrubbers are made of copper ribbon, not wire. Ribbon has a rectangular cross-section rather than a circular cross section. It holds and contains liquid DMT much better than wire.

Antenna wire is a poor substitute.

And whether you use wire or ribbon, don’t use a “wad” of it. A thin disc is all that’s required.

To the OP: Exposing copper (or iron, or low-grade stainless steel, or most other metals and alloys) to intense heat/flame will oxidize it. It only requires very gentle heat to evaporate off any mineral oil remaining on it. Or better yet, soak it in alcohol or acetone for a minute, then let it dry.

Good lord folks, don't assume I'm taking my own opinion as the word of god. I don't even take me seriously. Chillax. If you like Choreboy pads then use them. I'm glad it works for you. Maybe you can give the OP some tips on not torching the living crap out of them.

I don't like them and obviously the OP doesn't either. I happen to know of an alternative, and made it known.

Really guys? Do you have to crawl up everyone's ass and pick semantic nits? Shove it.

Hiyo Quicksilver, you said "Chore-boys are nasty". No explanations, just an unbacked statement that goes against current understanding of the copper mesh. That's why you were asked to explain yourself. Politely and with an explanation why it works/should work better than your suggestion.

You didnt't explain your answer and you have insulted other members. Is this really the attitude you wish to cultivate on Nexus ?
Got GVG ? Mhm. Got DMT ?

That is NOT the way to post in the Nexus. Please read the attitude page. Next time use language more respectfully, there's no need to be offensive like that.

You don't have to prepare an element for fire contact in a vaporising device where that's not the intention of the mechanism.

Wash it off....

End of.

Y'all make me lol.

There's no way to back or debate nastiness. Have you ever held disgust or displeasure in your hand, measured or photographed it?

It's not like I said they were impure, unhealthy or anything else... If I had, it would be perfectly reasonable to ask me to back the statement up. However I find them unpleasant. Sometimes humans use the word "nasty" to convey this.

...and still with the picking nits.

Well, there’s no debating that you find ChoreBoy copper nasty. If that’s how you feel, then that’s how you feel.

But I think we’re all wondering why?

Do you have some negative association with them? Do they remind you of something? Do you associate them with other drugs? Did you have a bad early childhood experience with ChoreBoys? Is it the name “ChoreBoy”?

I hope you see the irrationality in feeling perfectly comfortable with an inferior form of copper – copper wire from speaker cables – yet feeling that the same copper, when in the form of ribbon (which is much better at holding DMT) is “nasty”.

More or less identical copper. One holds DMT well, one lets it drip right through. Which would you want to use?

i am using a steel mesh from those 3M steel wools for cleaning dishes, now i am afraid of using it because someone i know got lung cancer not for using this but for smoking in aluminium pipes, cans and all kind of stuff he found availavle, he didnt smoked dmt, he used to smoke crack, but from that point of view, even if 3M says their steel wools for kichen cleaning is made of steel, i dont know if this is really truth.

Tossing up copper or steel myself for converting a RooR glass pipe. Much like this one

@wesker... Should we be worried about carcinogens? I think you need to look at the small amount of times you'll be using it. Can't see its anything like the amount of time crack users would hit the pipe. Plus there are huge differences in the actual substances. Just don't think you can compare the two user groups and especially off one report.
