Hey guys, hows it going? New to this place, a lot of usefull info here but cant quite seem to find the answer im lookin for. Im in New Zealand and im looking for a good substitute for VM&P Naphtha. I did find something called "wax & grease remover" at the local auto store, it cost me $14 for a litre so no too bad, on the label it says "Contains: Solvent Naphtha(Petroleum) light aromatic 30-60%, Solvent Naphtha(Petroleum) light aliphatic 30-60%". I poured a small amount into a glass dish and evaporated it, it evaporated quickly and did not seem to leave behind anything. Any ideas whether this is gonna work? Any help will be appreciated. i would try and find a higher concentration and you can always look up the MSDS sheets of the product online though if its your only option you can always try it and hopefully the other 70-40% is also a non-polar solvent if you can bassify in ammononia and extract with dcm why not smoke it?

The aromatic solvents are much stronger. VM&P naphtha is of the aliphatic variety. Handle with care.

Yeah i was wondering if maybe it meant, for instance, it could be 40% Aromatic and the other 60% is Aliphatic. I think i might try it and post the results. “Psychedelics are illegal not because a loving government is concerned that you may jump out of a third story window. If all else fails, Ronsonol and Clipper lighter fluids have worked well for me so far...

Well i can pretty easily get zippo fluid, but its only about 100ml in a bottle and i have a litre of this other stuff which, as far as i can tell, is also naphtha. Is lighter fluid actually pure naphtha? “Psychedelics are illegal not because a loving government is concerned that you may jump out of a third story window. Are all peteoleum based solvents hard to find in aus or just naphtha? You could always use xylene & salt out with fasa/w/i.

i am in nz and have seen the wax and grease remover that you mention for sale but havnt tried it yet but fuelite from the petrol stations does work, i recently used some for a re-x, also ronsonal is available at some supermarkets. But there is a shop where i live that sells xylene and toluene, not sure if i can post here the name of the chain that carries it but its a paint shop. I am interested to know what plants you have found here to extract from.

Hey guys Man this is an old thread, done a fair bit of experimentation with solvents since then and im not talkin about huffing them . The best solvent ive used thus far is Fuelite, which as far i can tell is Naptha, it is clean and pulls very well. Also it comes in a 1 liter bottle so no messing around with tons of lighter fluid cans. Ive also used 99% pure Hexane which also pulled well but not as well as the Fuelite/Naptha. I mainly use MHRB but me and a friend recently tried ACRB but with questionable results. As for Zippo fluid not being good, I cant say for sure but i definitely had better results with Ronsonol when using lighter fluid so i stuck with that. “Psychedelics are illegal not because a loving government is concerned that you may jump out of a third story window. Hey
Bringing it back once more!
Are you using Andrews or TMK?
Swim would't use Diggers by the way!

Swim would't use Diggers by the way! Why wouldn't you use it? Their naphtha works perfectly every time. So does their NaOH and Xylene. Never had the slightest issue.

Nz recipe different to australia it seems, but think someone was grasping at straws why extraction aint working!
Now at either my freezer isn't cold enough or my source isn't good enough!

Petroleum ether/Zippo lighter fluid/ V&MP Naphtha/ Coleman camp fuel...all of those are what you need.
And naphtha is sometimes indeed marketed as wax remover. Because it's organic solvent, and it indeed removes wax.

Does your solvent contain aromatic hydrocarbons? Aliphatics are good for freeze precipitation aromatics are not. The more in the mix the more spice will be trapped in solvent & not precipitate out with cold temperatures.

So that last one was Diggers Shellite
This is andrews Fuelite
% >60 liquid hydrocarbons 13 n-hexane <=5 aromatic hydrocarbons total, including 1 ethylbenzene <=0.1 benzene 1 C8 and higher aromatics
Or TMK Fuelite % Heptane and isomers 35 - 55 Cyclohexane 25 – 35 Methylcyclohexane < 15 Hexane <10
My pick would be the last one would you use either of these?

Would really like an opinion if any of these are good enough!
Still getting bad results! Not sure why!
