Hey everyone, I've been studying dmt for quite some time now, but apparently not enough because I have a question about the A/B extraction method.

You probably get this a whole lot, and I know this is in the wrong board but it wouldn't let me post in the appropriate section (maybe I had to make my first thread here!).

I understand you have to use sodium hydroxide, lye, or some other alternative substances in order to complete the extraction. Are you not also intaking these into your system when smoking or whatever method of transport you have for your dmt? Just wondering, because I don't wanna die my first time lol

No, that is not the way the chemistry works.

The alkaloid gets precipitated out of a solvent, once dried, no traces remain. Same for evaporation.

I'm new around here too but from what I've gathered since hanging around the nexus for several weeks, lye is highly soluble in water and not at all soluble in naptha (or hopefully any other solvent of your choice). The best way to be absolulely sure that there is no residual lye is to perform a final sodium carbonate wash, and even a further step of drying over Epsom salts.

Please fill me in on my missteps with what I have quoted here!

There are also food-safe extraction teks that don't use any chemicals which are overtly caustic or toxic to the human body. I think the most extreme chemical you will find in those is sodium carbonate. Otherwise vegetable oil is used for solvent, vinegar for acidifying, and lime for base.
