Not making resolutions so much as goals this year.

1) Learn Spanish. Start with a home course and then an evening class

2) Learn Ruby.

3) 10 day vipassana meditation retreat.

What goals do other nexians have for the year?

Peace

I, for one, (my dmt experiences have played a big part) want to make some positive long-coming changes for sure Smile

in no particular order;

1) Cut down heavily on my Cannabis intake. ive used ganja for 7 years, going on 8. many of those years have been daily use with barely any breaks.
now im just getting sick and bored of being stoned all the time. im not even half as productive as when im sober.
my first dmt trip in the winter just gone, was incredibly intense. it showed me what ive been looking for my whole life (didnt even know it was what i was looking for). Pure, unadulterated universal LOVE, within myself. why waste time and money being stoned constantly when you've experienced things like that?
deep.

2) I would also like to cut down on processed/junk foods. already my fresh fruit intake has skyrocketed, and i barely eat sweets or drink fizzy drinks anymore (this was beginning before dmt but the spice seems to have sped it up). My gran is 61 and has diabetes. I dont want that when im older, so Im making some healthy changes NOW, before its too late. I feel better when i wake up, and i have more energy than if Ive been eating crap and drinking cans of fizzy juice etc.
(also the only dairy i consume is cheeses on homemade pizzas and a yogurt once in a blue moon, and i havent eaten beef or pork for YEARS now Smile )

3) Save money. Im 21, and at this moment in time, i have less than £500 to my name. thats ALL the savings i have. Ideally by the end of the summer I'll have a good wee amount saved up.
I want to just save as much as possible. Maybe visit the Cannabis Cup in November in Amsterdam, only £50 for a plane ticket Pleased

4) Develop myself spiritually. Ive been reading the Upanishads more often, and ive tried to meditate a few times. Really, id like to delve deeper into the spiritual side of things.

all in all i want to make this a great year for me.
the only person who can stand in the way of this progression is myself.

I am going to only consume home made liquor. At least to the point that the setup pays for itself. If the wife is onboard, we should be able to sink the cost in 4-8 months....depending on how much we entertain.

I don't expect to get great results yield wise, as I intend to distill it a few times. Hey, I may even (distill a few more times and) use molecular sieve to make it strong enough to use as a solvent

I doubt I will enjoy it as much as my usual booze, so I think it will help with my other goal... to consume less alcohol.

I don't drink to get drunk (well... hmm.. a couple times a year I may get sorta drunk but never enough to hang over) but I do unwind with a rum and juice drink most nights.

1) Transition to a fully vegetarian diet with my wife
2) Lose 10-20 lbs (should come easy with the veggie diet)
3) Start working towards my IT certifications.
4) Expand my rare/research chemical collection (So I can be that guy in 20 years holding the last known vials of JWH-018, MXE, DOI, etc...)

We did the new year vegetarian switch 2 years ago. We are loving it and we feel so much better...and yes we both lost a lot of extra weight.

Awesome. Got any tips? Did you taper off meat or just quit cold turkey? I think I shouldn't have too much of a problem (just quit smoking cold turkey a month ago) but I'm afraid my wife might. I can't wait to eat and feel better and stop eating all this toxic sludge america pours down our throats.

I started with a 1 month New Years Eve pledge. At the end of the month I decided I felt so good that I'd stick with it. At this point my wife decided to join me.

It really isn't to hard until you go out to eat with friends. We usually eat fish when we go out, but we aren't overly rigid. There are the rare times we cheat, but they get more rare as time goes on.

Your stomach enzymes will change and you won't be able to digest red meat like you could before...so don't break a prolonged meat fast with a big peace of steak! That is one no-no I can attest to from experience. If we do cheat we cheat with poultry, beef is just plain to hard to digest now with out getting stomach cramps.

I guess my best advise is to continuously remind yourself why you are doing it. For me it was factory farming. When I looked into it it was to much for me to bare on my conscious. I do however recognize that I'm only human living in the society I was born into. I don't pass judgement on others, and I'm not overly rigid.

Oh yeah most importantly. If you don't know much about your diet start learning now. You can live as a very healthy vegetarian, but you need to be conscious of what you eat.

Peace.

look into gourmet raw vegan foods..I dunno why but the raw food community seems to have more dishes to replace meat that dont require tofu than the vegetarian community..

If you learn how to prepare gourmet raw vegan foods(and you can cook them if your not raw) than noone should ever have any problems at all going vegetarian/vegan. you wont miss meat at all and you can make fermented nut cheese that is actaully sharper and better than regular cheese.

If you just try to cut out meat and diary etc and eat salads and fruits all day long..well that can be difficult at first.
Long live the unwoke.

1) Discover who I am.
2) Finish apprenticship.
3) Save deposite for house.
4) Grow as a father.
Black then white are all I see in my infancy.
Red and yellow then came to be,
reaching out to me, lets me see.
There is so much more and it beckons me to look though to these,
infinite possibilities.
As below so above and beyond I imagine,
drawn outside the lines of reason.
Push the envelope. Watch it bend.

Too funny you would mention that ice house. I was sharing with friends this past weekend and cut everybody off specifically to save enough for you. Lets kick it sooner than later brother.

1) Live free, for a little while!

2) Figure out how to live the way I want to more, defined as

a) being able to wander around and eat food off of trees/bushes/ground/ocean
b) play music with people anywhere, anytime
c) grow/brew/extract whatever I want without cause for fear
d) not worry about money, not one bit

Get on this track, and rock the world!

3)Get a lot better at singing
4)Travel the world like crazy
5)Get back into my writing

I am pretty content with my personal growth to be honest.
