So spreading things such as roads, running water, medicine etc was a bad thing? Much of it was in the interest of trade and commerce, and many of the countries did very well through doing business with us. I agree that playing 'world police' is a step too far, as is forcing your religion on others etc, but let's look at the whole picture, not just elements that we don't like if we are going to do this in a fair and objective manner. And let's also remember that before the British, many many other civilizations put their stamp on other countries - the Mongols, the Romans, the Greeks, the Germans, French, and so on and so forth have all felt the need to inhabit and invade at some point in history, and I bet they were just as bad, if not much worse than us. The problem started a long long time ago. the thing is, we can't undo what humans did when they 'came to play' - but we can look forwards and strive towards a better planet.

Now, false feelings, delusions of grandeur, one-upmanship, bullying - yes, these are things we see in the insecure / mentally ill (and traits that we often see in politicians) - they will grasp onto anything to make themselves feel bigger / better / more important. And yes, I do think there are many many insecure and / or mentally ill people in Britain. I wonder, do these people who laugh at and ridicule you drink much? I notice this sort of idiotic and boorish behavior among these sorts in particular.

And I am very sorry that you feel that the people I happen to co-inhabit this island with choose to ridicule and laugh at you. That must be very hurtful. I certainly find many people quite objectionable, and have to choose my friends wisely - but this is the same pretty much every where I have been, you get dicks of one type or another all over the world. And where to find 'your' people? I can't answer that, I don't know you well enough... Maybe you could pop round for a smoalk some time

Yes! I agree with this for the most part. It is very sad indeed what has happened to you guys. Until recently I had the notion that you were a very liberal, progressive society, but now I see ugly cracks appearing. Nationalism is just another marketing tool used by politicians to stir up emotion and gain votes, and it is often what a populous will resort to when experiencing tough times.

I do not agree with this approach in any form, as it does create these delusions and division. This is no mistake, this is what they thrive on. I could not give a crap about "Pride in military power, flags, trumpets and pompous ceremonies" - heck, i didn't pay the royal wedding the blindest bit of notice.

Please see that your first post did sound competitive and divisionistic in the very nature of the things that repulse you - "Britain and france will soon be thrown out of the G8 of large economy´s."...

IMO if we want a better world, we shouldn't be drawing up lists to show which is 'richer' or 'better' than the other - that in itself is childish and in the nature of the empires that are constantly competing and puffing up their chests. The real wealth is something that is found inside, not in the conquering and belittling of others. I would much rather celebrate what makes us similar and great, than things that make us feel insignificant or unimportant. We are ALL significant and important, no matter how outwardly 'wealthy' we are. I would much rather celebrate that.

I wouldn't say England is now amongst the "insignificant" nations of the world. Economy is only one constituent of what makes a nation influential and potent.

Just one more comment and please dont take this pesonaly : What I meant was that UK or other countries as you mentioned did not go to other countries to bring them better life , better economy and more welth. They went there to steel what was not theirs and that is what I dont like. It is still happening now days. Look around all this US and UK unlowful invasions and killing for fuel and other resorces in the name of bringing some democracy and peace to the country.

I hope you can see what is really going on now and I am sure you see that this is nothing to be proud of. You can not look away just because its not happenig to you. Believe me one day it will but when that happens there will be noone to help you. I am talking generaly here ok ?

Yes doubtless we were responsible for A LOT of crimes, and still are. I have certainly been disgusted with the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. It's going to take a lot for our governments to stop this madness - but what???
