Thought that this was interesting.

I used an iPhone app to look at my sleep cycle after smoking some changa that had Caapi extracted harmalas in. The harmala always makes me tired and stoned for a bit right afterwards. So went to bed and set up the app to measure the cycle and below is what I got.

Deep sleep for the majority of the night.

Compare that to a normal night the night before which is the second picture.

So the question is, is this sleep pattern beneficial or not? I don't feel any more tired than say when I get a rubbish night sleep.

This is also just 1 night, I will continue to monitor this and see if it changes. This could have just been a one off and had nothing to do with the changa.

Interesting, what phone app are you using?
I've always wondered how DMT and changa affected my sleep.
Maybe you should try just freebase and see what the outcome is?

I use this one http://itunes.apple.com/...m-clock/id320606217?mt=8

Yes freebase is also a factor we could control in this experiment!

Very happy

We could easily all of us with iphones see if there is a sleep pattern difference with different people.

It looks like an interesting app, I don't have an iphone but there may be a similar android app for my phone.

From your graph it might look like you're missing out on some REM sleep, which is the same effect that cannabis has on the sleep cycles. REM sleep is not fully understood, but most theories suggest it has psychological purposes like memory processing and the forming of creative associations. Given that harmine has a relatively short half life (3 hours) and does "inhibit" light sleep, this might explain why, in the first graph, the lightness of the sleep (REM is light) increases with time, though still keeping the same cycle movements looping every 120 minutes or so.
P.S. I'm not a doctor or pharmacologist, so do check this for yourself.
