Im a new member here. I am not a scientist. I am a Mom. I was hurt by my ex. I have a 6 year old son.I've been reading the forums while sick. These are my only qualifications to post this.

Ive been reading the forum and it seems there's lots of conflict and drama.I love that you have to be 18 or more to have a membership here. Other drug forums arent like that. I love that we are all adults.

I hope I dont break the rules or attitude if I address you like my child:

I think a timeout or cooldown might help here

I don't care about new forum sections, power trips or conspiracy theories and I don't know old members. This stuff has noting to do with me but I notice the tension. All of you-members, admins and moderators seem like great people but you remind me of something between high school and my son when he spends the weekend with my ex. He eats junk food, has no structure and comes home sick and . . not himself 8 times out of 10.

I am not judging anyone. But I notice people here do drugs alot.I've also noticed that when I dosed weekly things got weird. It got better when it was less frequent tho I had no choice-my life had changed.

I am saying maybe Nexus people should take integration seriously. These are strong drugs.Taking integration seriously means taking time off

I'm taking my inspiration in House the other day in chat. Hes detoxing from almost everything.

I am personally pledging to do NO drugs (except my green teas), no psychedelics, no dissociatives, no red wine (even at Xmas) and no pot at all for a full 30 days starting today (actually a week or so ago lol). Since Im not addicted to any of this it shouldn't be that hard.

Won't some of you who are in all of this conflict and drama join me?

2012 is going to be amazing. Don't you feel it? We DMT users should stick together. We just need to go to our corners and and cool down. Take timeouts. Come back out and see we have more in common than not.

This is the shortest day of the year. That means the next 364 will have more light. I am posting this with nothing but love and caring. Happy Holidays

Last year I did almost 5 months (my fall semester at university) completely sober. At the time I was indulging mostly in caffine, cannabis, alcohol and occasionally mushrooms. It was an interesting experience and not as hard as I imagined it would be. It was actually most difficult when I was bored with little to do thinking "a joint would be great right now" but I didn't indulge. It was a good routine, but not as cleansing as I thought it would be and I think that's mostly because my diet didn't change with it.

Also, just my personal opinion: high school never ends. People here act like this because people in general act like this. There's no getting away from it. We are creatures of ego and drama. I like the Nexus because we do a good job of reminding ourselves to calm down occassionally. Not enough people do.

Yeah, things are a bit turbulent around here lately, aren´t they?

I´ve been smoking a bit too much weed lately and i must admit that it hasn´t done me good at all. So i´ll decided to totally quit the stuff again..knowing by experience that life is actually more enjoyable then.

But i don´t think the use of psychedelic´s has much to do with the recent turmoil.
There are plenty of people here who use psychedelic´s at least once a weak, who never cause any problem. I´m sure that whenever they feel they realy need some time-off, they will follow their inner wisdom.

In my view, the problem is that this has always been a virtual meetingplace where people with an investigative spirit, with a responsable aproach towards psychedelic´s, willing and able to look at themselves critically, willing and able to listen to what others have to say, people in other words with a positive attitude towards themselves and others could share and discuss things.

And maintaining the level of 'maturity', for a lack of better words, of this forum that high is not an easy task for the traveller and his team of moderators, considering the enormous growth in members.

Maybe tensions in the real world, are somehow also sipping into this virtual meetingplace. We are living in 'interesting times' as the chinese put it.

You are probably right and have been here much longer than I have. Some of the posts seem weird and extreme and remind me of what I said. I thought drug use was part of it as this is a drug forum and remembered how things changed form me when I changed and reduced use.

I was thinking this myself and could not figure out a way to get it in my post. The world is so crazy and tense. So are people's jobs and school. I am working on getting my son to take some time to talk about his day and work out his tension and conflicts each day and its not easy. And he's just a kid!Honestly, he'd rather act out or play a videogame or yell. Some times this gets extreme and sometimes it goes further. This is when the cooldowns and timeouts come into play.

How can we shelter ourselves from all the crap out there? How can we ensure we take time for cooldowns and timeouts (be that drug related or not)? It's like being a parents. Can we parent ourselves? Part of me doubts it from what I've seen in the forum and a late night in the chat.A bigger part really believes it from what Ive seen here at Nexus. I definately think we should try. Again, I think we DMT users should stay together and understand we have more in common than not. It really is a crazy world. This seems like it has the potential to be a very comfy nest or niche.

Wonderfully articulated EuphoricHavoc. Thank you for stepping forward with your thoughts.

Reminding ourselves of the light we have all witnessed and experienced [and are] during every moment of our lives (including time spent on the Nexus) is one of the greatest aspirations and challenges we face as psychonauts in my humble opinion. Being in those modes positively influences our surrounding world, which greatly needs it. It's something that must be focused and exercised daily. It is exponential and expanding, as well as humbling. It's not easy, either. It is different for each and every one of us.

Taking time off and meditating is a great way to defragment subconscious material and help organize who and what you are. Even if you don't notice anything happening. Something inside of you is growing, and fortifying. Always do what you feel is right, but please try to keep this in mind.

I urge everybody to live in reminder of what these substances are showing us. Easier said than done, I know, that's the point. There is more to this than simply imbibing. This is the essence of integration and I think it is important to focus on as well!

/me is cool as a cucumber... My DMT usage is maybe once a month atm, it just isn't quite the right time... But certain stresses in my life have been leading to me being stoned a little too often - the lack of sleep and bad back brought on by a horrible mattress being one! (or two Wink ) I do need to detox from the ganja for a bit, psychs aren't a problem to control foor me...

Happy Christmas every one! Much love Razz

Hey Euphoric Smile
I really didn't know you were a mom, congrats on raising a human being!

I really like this thread, I think we all soooo need to take a step back and look at what is going on!
This is a great forum with a great leader (yes I said it, but hell he is great) and this petty squabbling is just getting in the way of something Amazing!
Yes people have been hurt, but none moreso than the Nexus in my opinion, and yes I view the Nexus as a living breathing organism, filled with great minds, great posts and great information. WE NEED TO KEEP IT ALIVE!!!!!!

Why can't we all get a bong?nRazz as someone said in chat the other day. Intelligent people are going to fight, it's in our nature, but we need to understand that Trav does a hell of a lot to keep this going, he does not need a soap opera to deal with other than his real life, which we all know is pretty demanding of us all. HE DOES THIS AS A FAVOUR TO US! lets keep the place neat and tidy for him!

And hell guys lets have some fun keeping a good thing going!

Peace

I've been substance free nearly a year, and I'll tell you what, life in itself is a trip. I've never felt better/happier/healthier. Entheogens are great for people that can handle them but everyone needs time to let it absorb, they are tools, and you know the old saying if it ain't broke don't fix it? Well its never truer than here. I do however look forward to resuming my usage of spice and cactii after my year is up I value the time I've had sober more than anything. And a note on the time outs, I've seen a couple of people have to sit the corner around here so to say(with suspended accounts) for having poor attitudes.

Work has been absolutely dominating my life the past 6-8 weeks, which has caused me to get less sleep, workout less often, drink wine more than once a month, and smoke the night away when I finally get home just so I can sleep amidst the stress.

The worst part of all is that the stress, anxiety, and lack of time for exercise has left my head space too muddled to partake of one of our holy sacraments. I think I may have missed a lot of the drama that everyone seems to be speaking of lately because of work. It truly saddens me when I see intelligent, caring, gifted people tearing into each other. The people that congregate in this place have the intellect, abilities, and desire to change the world for good. Disagreement does not mean that different goals are being sought out!

I tend to be a very argumentative person in real life. This is something I have been working hard on. As a result, there are many threads that I feel emotionally attached to, but do not comment in. I think I will eventually feel comfortable enough to engage other members in more heated debates, but right now I value this place so much and do not want to do anything to jeopardize my relationships with anyone, or create negative energy.

Personally, I like reading the threads that contain opinions that completely conflict with my own. These are the threads that force me to grow and question the "truths" I hold so dear to make it through life on a daily basis. I would not be able to spend 5 minutes in a room with the person I was 7 years ago, and I hope I grow even more in the next 7 years.

Next week, I hope to finally take my "timeout" from work to focus on reflection and spending time with those I truly care about. EuphoricHavoc, I am so glad there are people like you raising the next generation. It's the children from people like you that will have such a head start when it comes to their psychological and social well-being. You, along with your children, will leave a beautiful mark on this world.

I wish you and all Nexians out there the best. I'm grateful to all of you for helping to create this cyber space of healing based on hyperspace (especially The Traveller).

Peace and Happy Journeys Smile

Well, it can also be the other way round.
I can say with confidence, that I've become a lot, a lot more tense since i was forced to stop taking psychedelics. Last mushroom trip was half a year ago, last big DMT experience 1+ years.
I found that bi-monthly trips are most beneficial to me, but you can't force it. If you are at a point in life, were you need reminders every once in a while, not being reminded make you turn to other things (arguments and random musings of ego).

So that's that.

taking a step back and cooling down - perhaps this can also be applied to the nexus itself. It seems a lot of people here are taking the things that happen here very very serious. The nexus is not the whole world, it is not your whole life... I've been taking a thorough break from this forum for a while and only occasionally pop back in; I've got to say it's put a whole different perspective on things.

This forum is great, but honestly, this drama is so useless and redundant. Why not hit the close button on that tab and do something else for a while until we can all be a bit more productive again?
I know it might seem like the nexus is that one free place where you can escape to when things in RL are going awry... but this place too needs its members to be level-headed and intelligent, relaxed and reasonable, otherwise there's only chaos. So using the nexus as a place to vent your stress and anxiety will make the quality of the nexus-experience drop rather fast. I'm not saying you shouldn't come here if you are having a hard time. I'm saying you shouldn'T take your hard time out on the nexus.

And really when the nexus problems start becoming the prevalent problems in your life (and you're not Mr. Traveler), then perhaps it's time to think about your distribution of energy a little. Humans in general do a lot better if their lives are ballanced. Too much of one thing (even Paracelsus knew this) can become toxic real fast.

Just an idea...

Lately I had this idea that a lot of the structures in the world (our family, our company, our nation, our planet, our universe) have the capacity to become The Mandala. I see forces behind each part or person who is in the game - each one manifesting a particular aspect of the God mind -, and I see a process by which this mandala, this gestalt tries to complete itself, to become whole, balanced. It's like a universal equation, trying to solve itself, over and over again, until it finally succeeds (leading to enlightenment?). The task would be to construct the mandala in such a way, that it doesn't fall apart when the forces that are invoked by it really try each other. (The really deep-going - and spiritually important - conflicts are not invoked until the mind of the sleeping God "senses" that the mandala may be strong enough to withhold the lightning, and then it decides to make another experiment to wake up.)

From this perspective, the Nexus is particularly interesting (and precious), because the members here seem to be able to play with these forces on a much higher level than usual. I think tripping on psychedelics provides a perfect training ground for this type of endeavor. During my own excursions I found that the element of unconditional love may be the magic potion, the "element above all", which could be used to resolve the ancient dichotomy without diluting or constraining the power of the various lower elements (this is a requirement, otherwise the mandala couldn't work with 100% efficiency - and only love can do this because it's the only "thing" that goes beyond the basic polarity inherent in creation).

unless you are you virtual being that lives only in the internet you have at the very least biological needs that requir you to do things outside of the nexus. And probably more than just that...

If you feel this doesn't apply to you, by all means feel free to ignore what I said.

I've been tapering off a heavy cannabis habit for a few months now. Went from getting blitzkrieg'd every day to vaping a few puffs from my launch box a few times a week, and getting stoned maybe once or twice a month. I like your advice, and its been the impetus for me to pledge not touch cannabis for a month starting yesterday, my 20th b-day. Going to start there, then move on to caffeine, and other habits i have when i feel the time is right.

I haven't taken this kind of t-break ever, since i started smoking over 6 years ago, and feel its time to finally kick my bad habits, starting with the one thats the most damaging.

Good vibes, and know your not the only one out there seeking a more clear-minded and healthy state of mind going in to 2012.

Good luck, and thanks for the motherly advice that I feel I and some other nexians desperately need. Its much appreciated. Wink
"let those who have talked to the elves, find each other and band together" -TMK

In a society in which nearly everybody is dominated by somebody else's mind or by a disembodied mind, it becomes increasingly difficult to learn the truth about the activities of governments and corporations, about the quality or value of products, or about the health of one's own place and economy.
In such a society, also, our private economies will depend less upon the private ownership of real, usable property, and more upon property that is institutional and abstract, beyond individual control, such as money, insurance policies, certificates of deposit, stocks, etc. And as our private economies become more abstract, the mutual, free helps and pleasures of family and community life will be supplanted by a kind of displaced citizenship and by commerce with impersonal and self-interested suppliers...
The great enemy of freedom is the alignment of political power with wealth. This alignment destroys the commonwealth - that is, the natural wealth of localities and the local economies of household, neighborhood, and community - and so destroys democracy, of which the commonwealth is the foundation and practical means.” - Wendell Berry
