The majority of people writing reports regarding DMT experiences seem to have one thing in common; They close their eyes when they are finished administrating the dose. I find this part particurarly interesting, even more so than the "awesome" effects that the person experiences. The reason is as to why people tend to close their eyes? Do they need to do so in order to experience strong visualisation? If YOU do this, or have thoughts about it, please share! Personally I do not close my eyes, atleast not voluntarily. The reason to it is that I enjoy the "scenery collapse", how things suddenly and profoundly change right before my eyes and how the reality in a matter of seconds just melts like a stearin candle. When I close my eyes, this does not happen, instead I'm instantly in another world and therefore I prefer to let the OEV's "bleed" over, in time making them inseparable from the CEV's. Finally I don't know if my eyes are open or not, what is eyes anyway? If the dosage is high enough, your eyes are truly disposable.. and so are the eyelids Mad, bad and dangerous to know.

Evisceratechuck wrote:If the dosage is high enough, your eyes are truly disposable.. and so are the eyelids I agree with this quote. Sometimes the OEVs can be just as strong as the CEVs if the dose is high enough. With me every time I've closed my eyes on the come up it's warped me to a whole other place... with my eyes open it takes a bit longer to enter the "Realms of the Unknown" but I still get there though. With my eyes open it seems as though my vision gets covered in some type of bubble wrap... extreme morphing and rippling of the walls and objects within my field of vision. With my eyes closed it's a whole new world.... outrageous fractals, unheard of geometry floating within inches of my face melting into my face and other regions of my body (that's what it seems like). I've seen some pretty trippy stuff with my eyes open though so I can't knock it (can you say Shadow Entities?) but I actually prefer eyes closed because the detachment from reality is a bit more instant than with eyes open. 1% of reality is within our plane of existence. What we feel... what we see... what we hear... what we "think" we know... The other 99% percent of reality can only be shown to us through DMT. This 99% lies within the "Realm of the Unknowns". We can only experience FULL reality when we leave this vessel, our bodies. DMT gives us a taste of this full reality... the universal knowledge is given to us by the beings who call "hyperspace" their home. When in hyperspace there is no "self" but instead this self is replaced with pure and raw energy. ENERGY CAN NOT BE DESTROYED, ONLY TRANSFERRED OR TRANSFORMED! So when you have that "ego-death" during a breakthrough trip, don't fret, you are not being destroyed but yet..... YOU ARE BEING TRANSFORMED.
I LOVE YOU, RESPECT YOU AND I THANK YOU... Dimethyltryptamine ... for showing me the 99% of reality that I would never have experienced in everyday life.

I also agree that with high doses, open-eye-visuals are just as spectacular as CEV´s. When you´re in a dark place, in terms of visual effects it doesn´t matter at all whether you have your eyes open or closed.
Closing your eyes, even when sober, has a direct influence on brainwave-patterns though. When you´re completely shut-off from all possible visual stimuli, your brain behaves differently.
Low frequency brainwaves increase and brain hemnispheres become more synchronised.
I find that closing my eyes on DMT, is almost like diving into an endless ocean. The moment you close them, something changes and you get sucked into an immense, infinite space. It´s a very dramatic, instantaneous effect.

I am paranoid of my brain. It thinks all the time, even when I'm asleep. My thoughts assail me. Murderous lechers they are. Thought is the assassin of thought. Like a man stabbing himself with one hand while the other hand tries to stop the blade. Like an explosion that destroys the detonator. I am paranoid of my brain. It makes me unsettled and ill at ease. Makes me chase my tail, freezes my eyes and shuts me down. Watches me. Eats my head. It destroys me.

This is frankly quite funny, with eyes closed the effects generally seems to be more pronounced than with your eyes open, IF the dosage isn't high enough.Personally this is around 20mg~ where OEV's are intense and CEV's otherwordly but on 30mg~ I have left my body and there is no eyes to speak of. I can't even tell with WHAT I am seeing, because there is no "me", I'm something like a lost soul soaring through these other dimensions, these kinds of experiences makes me ponder the existence of the third eye. corpus callosum wrote:Indeed. If the dosage is high enough, the concept of 'eyes' becomes an intangible abstraction. They sure do, this is probably the one thing I may find disturbing while journying deep into the jungle of Psychedelia How am I seeing this? Mad, bad and dangerous to know.

I find that if I keep my eyes open during the comeup, I tend to get "hypersickness" or cybersickness My head just cant handle reality being twisted sooo much if my eyes are open.

Hehe maybe we should invent a "hypermotionsickness pill" ? *Take before and after* I have to agree with this though, the come-up can with open eyes be quite nauseating because of the sheer intensity of the launch. This is however the part of the DMT experience that I enjoy the most, the shattering, melting, all these alien things rapidly replacing your "reality", yet it looks more real than anything you've ever seen before in your sober life First time I experienced this phenomena was with yopo and it changed my life profoundly, the spirituality of the journey was tremendous and I felt like a new man when I came out, as if I had experienced a evolutioning stage of my own being, it was a glorious moment, right after I had stopped snotting out blood mixed with the snuff from my nasal cavity Funny thing is, that this feeling is being re-experienced with every large dose of DMT I do AND without the dreadful snuff snot! Mad, bad and dangerous to know.

Or even posture.
Ask yourself where it stems from. You might be surprised by what you hear.

Global wrote:If you're getting nausea, it's probably from a very large dose or from a burnt dose. Well I'm very careful with the heating and the smoke is smooth and easy to deeply inhale, so I'd go with the volume of product causing the internal discomfort. Just as the oxygen deprivation from inhaling large quantities of smoke might cause a light-headed feeling it may also be the cause of the nausea, although it's minor and nothing of concern really, just a notion as I haven't seen more than 1 post (I think) about DMT linking to nausea (vaporized that is, lol). Considering I always attempt to sit and be able to fall down into a fully flat-out on back position ({laying down}sometimes the come-up knocks me immobile too fast causing me to slighty lean r/l while still sitting) I shouldn't experience any nausea as a result of poor posture since on-back usually (with psychedelics) tends to relieve alot of nausea. Having used yopo for some time this was a must to avoid puking all over yourself while almost dying of vasoconstriction ۩ wrote:Ask yourself where it stems from. Something alot of people seem to find controversial about this powerful substance is the definition of a "Breakthrough". My view on the matter would be that; When a person has reached the state of psychedelic-intoxication where he/she no longer experience any difference with closed/open eyes, alternatively "seeing without eyes" (the phenomena of this occurence is spoken about earlier in the post), one have had a breakthrough. Now I admit that this suggestion might come off as a bit superficial due to the fact that everyone interprets their experiences within their own subjectivity and unique characterisation but regardless of the controversy, does anyone agree with this theory or is it just my analasys of a "standard explanation/defination)- breakthrough? Mad, bad and dangerous to know.

i personally like nobody to be around me, eyes closed and fully nude laying on my back or full/half lotus. i initially try to meditate and let the dmt become me, once i breakthrough and become buddha i let the chanting begin. rom rom rom rom setting is huge, if you change the way you launch you will land in a different part of hyperspace. that's how i feel anyways. as above, so below

I always close my eyes and lay down. Motionless with closed eyes, even on a small dose, i reach very easy the "DMT Trance". On the come down i can uphold the trance much longer when i stay motionless with closed eyes! I love to bath in love and light, captured in the trance as long as possible.

I've also found singing/chanting to be VERY useful during some dark rides though, I have no idea why but it just seems to relieve any anxiety and fear Herba Luisa wrote:On the come down i can uphold the trance much longer when i stay motionless with closed eyes! With this I totally agree though, on small doses I've decided to open my eyes and then try to re-experience the previous effects by closing them again, by doing this I mostly tend to "fall out" of the space that once filled up my "behind close-eyelids". So with smaller doses I do enjoy closing my eyes, or just having a good giggly laugther-coaster with a friend Mad, bad and dangerous to know.

i always like to close my eyes, i just feel its the right thing to do. The quote, "You dont need eyes where were going" always pops into my head. i found that even on a dose that would, with closed eyes, send me to amazing places in the DMT land, with eyes open i get no where near hyperspace, there is serious alteration of the room but i can sit through a dose of about 30-40mg and still stay in the room, but this amount with eyes closed equals BOOOOM. I think my my mind hangs onto "reality" with a tight grip. I know this could be remedied by smoalking moar but to smoalk moar just to bring about the callapse of visual reality seems a bit stupid/disrespectfull when all i need to do is close my eyes. bed/closed eyes/darkness/silence is the perfect way for me, all the pieces of the puzzle need to in place and closed eyes is the last of these pieces. INHALE, SURVIVE, ADAPT it's all in your mind, but what's your mind??? fool of the year

bed/closed eyes/darkness/silence is the perfect way for me Then you aren't smoking enough! To each his own I guess I don't really fancy being in the dark on DMT, with bufotenine it's great because the darkness seem to bring upon the brightest visions but with DMT this doesn't seem to be the case for me, there's nothing like coming down on DMT in a dimmed lit room with distant candles Mad, bad and dangerous to know.

If you've only found one thread about nausea from vaporized DMT, you haven't looked hard enough. I don't think oxygen deprivation is the cause of the nausea though. You can hold in 3 hits of a medium sized dose with no nausea or you can hold in one hit of a really large dose and get nausea, so I don't think it's from oxygen deprivation. Also, some people are just more sensitive to the nausea from vaped DMT than others. I used to get nausea more often from DMT and that was during a period of my "DMT career" when I was loading up larger doses and probably doing a little burning. "Science without religion is lame.
