ISIS is one of my favorite bands. Atmospheric post-sludge!Smile. Here's a few of their tunes that I like

What are we but stupefied dancers to a discordant stystem, we believe - so we're mislead
we assume - so we're played
we confide - so we're deceived
we trust - so we're betrayed

If we are getting on sludgy music...

I'm personally a bit into sludge/doom/stoner/drone metal and some good dark ambient...anything that can get me in a meditative trance (be it divine or pure evil).

Sunn O))) is great - funny, I've been randomly getting into a little dark ambient at the moment as well. Usually the only ambient I get amongst is earthy, organic, spacey, ethnic kind of stuff (Benn Jordan, Carbon Based Lifeforms, SYNC24, Ishq, Marow- never scrapey, screamy, harsh, minor key stuff that I've been listening to at the moment ala Raison D'Etre.

I find Dahlia's Tear sits somewhere in between

This is Raison D'Etre (It is dark btw)

And just for the hell of it, here's the sensational (perhaps life changing) Lichen by Aphex Twin

PrimateSphynx, do you like Red Sparowes? I prefer them greatly to Isis, I think they are hugely underrated.

Yeah Red Sparowes are a way sick band though I'm not to familiar with all of their works, I like the song you posted a link to though. Pelican and Russian Circles are some other post-metal bands I've been getting into lately. I really like their more amibient/drone stuff, in addition to the sludgy. Have you ever listened to the Swiss band The Ocean freeradicals? They are kind of like ISIS but I'd say about 10X heavierTwisted Evil and a lot more avante garde, with melodic parts mixed in of course. I've really been getting into them lately as well.

A good place to start with Red Sparowes is their album - Every Red Heart Shines Toward the Red Sun. Definitely has the most variety in sound, I find some post rock can be way too repetitive and structured. Ie, slow quiet guitar melody building up, drums added, becoming heavier still into crescendo. There's a place for it, but I personally like a lot more diversity.

Pelican I think I gave a chance once, but I guess nothing really gripped me - could you suggest something?

Russian Circles and The Ocean I've seen mentioned to many times now to ignore, I'll check some out tonight Pleased

To Drishti - that was some amazing drone/ambient

"'Most men will not swฮนm before they are able to.' Is not that witty? Naturally, they won't swฮนm! They are born for the solid earth, not for the water. And naturally they won't think. They are made for life, not for thought. Yes, and he who thinks, what's more, he who makes thought his business, he may go far in it, but he has bartered the solid earth for the water all the same, and one day he will drown."

1% of reality is within our plane of existence. What we feel... what we see... what we hear... what we "think" we know... The other 99% percent of reality can only be shown to us through DMT. This 99% lies within the "Realm of the Unknowns". We can only experience FULL reality when we leave this vessel, our bodies. DMT gives us a taste of this full reality... the universal knowledge is given to us by the beings who call "hyperspace" their home. When in hyperspace there is no "self" but instead this self is replaced with pure and raw energy. ENERGY CAN NOT BE DESTROYED, ONLY TRANSFERRED OR TRANSFORMED! So when you have that "ego-death" during a breakthrough trip, don't fret, you are not being destroyed but yet..... YOU ARE BEING TRANSFORMED.

I LOVE YOU, RESPECT YOU AND I THANK YOU... Dimethyltryptamine ... for showing me the 99% of reality that I would never have experienced in everyday life.

Yeah I've listened to a few songs off Every Red Heart Shines Toward the Red Sun and really liked it. I really like the album they put out in 2010, its really awesome. Yeah I'm not to familiar with Pelicans discography I just have a friend who plays them a lot and I like their music. Enter is a great place to start with Russian Circles. Its them when it was just a power trio and no string arrangements, though their album Geneva with cello and violin is really good to. As for The Ocean it depends how heavy you like your music. they do all their albums released in two albums, one post-metal and one heavy sludge with some death mixed in. Precambrian and Anthropocentric are my two favorites by them but I think all of their albums are amazing.
