Lol SWIM doesn't sound in the least bit suspicious Wink

I also doubt "Everything this user posts is untrue" and the like actually provides any protection, but that is much less annoying.

while one does not use swim it seems that swim is no more incriminating than "one"...

its all the same ... we are all guilty.. with exception of course of "one".... they are not guilty of anything ..... ha

I gave it up through fear of drowning.

Seriously though, when I first started posting I used SWIM quite a lot. It made me feel like I was part of the in crowd to be using the lingo and it was fun.

I do much prefer stuff like "My half-sister's parrot's guru's gay uncle's cheque book ink, who first ascended unto horlicks via the planet boob-a-la ate some serious stuff!"

I thought it was somewhat silly, since it's obvious what's going on... Nevertheless, I nearly drowned myself the first post I made. I won't be doing it again though. A simple message in the signature does just as much and isn't as ridiculous.

SWIM definitely agrees!

It is indeed annoying to read a post full of SWIMs. Even more annoying is seeing both SWIM and SWIY in the same post. Like when someone quotes a post and replies with "As SWIY said...". That's just dumb.

And apart from being annoying, it is useless. Say you end up under interrogation for something SWIM (or SWIY) did - don't you think the cops would make you give up the identity of this misterious guy who you seem to know so much about? What would you do then?

I think people should just be careful about what they post instead.

EDIT: someone should really register with username SWIM. Then all unsavoury activity can be pinned on him. He'll be our patsy.

Never typed that word it annoys me as well. I know the legal system been through it a few times they will chalk that up to a alias or a slang word. It posses no defense except a psychological one to the user.

SWIM is a sign of the times.

If you know what it means, you are already part of the underground.

It may not mean anything, and it certainly won't be a SWIM Defense in any court of law... but it represents our paranoia. It is a symbol of how ridiculous our society is.
"Curiouser and curiouser..." ~ Alice

"Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many. Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it." ~ Buddha
