I read recently a study of Mesemb plants regarding alkaloids.
What i found interesting is that when Aptenia was studied these figures were presented:

FVH 2 Leaves Aptenia cordifolia 0.294
FVH 2 Roots Aptenia cordifolia 0.244
FVH 2 Seeds Aptenia cordifolia 1.740
FVH 2 Stems Aptenia cordifolia 0.12

These are in percentages of total alkaloid content... the values are pretty low with the exception of seeds.

Knowing that Delosperma also has very low alkaloid content i wondered about the seeds and tried smoking a small amount of them. By doing this i got more activity than i did doing extractions on large amounts of Delosperma leaves, stems and roots.

Having worked on this topic for years now, the only thing that has shown promise so far are the seeds.

This is very interesting. What quantity of seed are you talking about? A pinch?

Funny that you made this post as i have been looking into Delosperma even more than usaual, as it grows in abundance in my surrounding area and it seems to have so much potential... Cool

this is such a common plant here - a raw bioassay made my cheek tingle - oops - oxalic acid i suppose
i been thinkin of strakting this for a while - but gathering enough seeds would take longer than tekking it.

I know of a time recently when someone...

did an extraction on some delosperma cooperi leaves. It was real exciting because there where all kinds of different compounds encountered along the way that look alot like spice.
None of it was spice however.
The only thing gained from this extraction is the knowledge that if there is DMT in the Delosperma Cooperi growing near someones house, it is in such low quantity in the leaves as to make it not worth extracting at all.

The stems, roots and flowers however where kept seperate and are all dried up and crunchy now, or so I hear.
The seeds you say....hmmm.

BTW; the above mentioned plant matter was harvested Oct.15th at 8:30AM. it had just began to snow hard on what was the first realy cold day of the year...

I mention this because it is the type of data that needs to be collected if someone is ever to develope spice extraction technique for Delosperma plants.
In this world there are adults and there are children. In fact the world is filled with children; they are angry and hurt, frightened and abused, lazy and ignorant, stubborn and hateful. The world hates an adult and they would rather cause their peers to fail at any venture of self improvement before having to step up and improve their selves so as to maintain pecking order and evidence of the lowley opinion they have of each other. The best of them enslave the others so that they all consume and destroy all there lives in order to satisfy their immense greed claiming that they are providing a future for their legacy and never question the possibility of doing better in order to leave a real future for the children they will leave behind on this, our Earth. They pretend that it is impossible and when cornered they admit their apathy saying that they won't be around to suffer the out come. They hate the adults for exposing their immense weekness. The total failure that they call success. Mean while the adults strive to minimize their own impact and perpetually work to undo the damage already done. The adults who already know; they are the children of tomorrow.

about 300mg of seeds...

i've done at least 5 extractions of a few delomsperma species at many times of the year, some of rather large volumes, i do not believe it is a viable tryptamine source

agreed - workin with cooperi in large amounts is time consuming and messy too.
