I'm curious as to other people's experiences on practicing Yoga utterly stoned. I've been practicing Kundalini Yoga now for only about 4 months, and the results (physically, mentally, spiritually) have been profound. Just recently I've started smoking pot prior to practicing, and it takes the whole regimen to an unbelievable new level. I guess this shouldn't surprise me, as pot does this with many things, but I had no idea I'd be so enveloped in the wonders of the physical form while simultaenously being treated to a whole host of CEVs.

Last week I took a few hits in my car before heading into the studio. While there was some initial paranoia (can the teacher tell?!?) once I settled in the session was at times as profound as a psylocibin trip....

I've also read and heard from many sources how most Yogis frown upon any kind of drug use. It just strikes me as silly, as it now seems self-evident that both these practices are so synergestic it's laughable to suggest otherwise.

Just curious to hear other thoughts, experiences...

Me and my buddy (who happened to be the yoga instructor for the class I went to and he taught) would get absolutely stoned before class. It's pretty much amazing. Very harmonious activity.

I know this hobby a bit too well(smoking with sadhus)... Altough it was years ago and nowadays I don't use cannabis. These fellas have such a crazy tolerance that they barely feel two chillums of proper charas(at least many of them, me included back in the day).
Back in the day when I practiced kriya yoga the hash would make my sessions less successful.

i don't think i have ever done yoga/tai chi sober, tbh.
but then again i am a daily cannabis smoker, so i could do it every day and still never do it sober Razz
i find it very synergistic, but my favorite by far is mushrooms (the only time you can blow your mind just by a simple body movement).

I have found through my own experience that the ultimate supreme entheogen for yoga is mushrooms, the most perfect setting is the beach near the ocean or near a waterfall as water in combination with mushies and yoga is intensely epic. I would also suggest trying some khat before a yoga session as i have found that they too work within a perfect synergy together.

i haven't actually tried this, but i imagine amanita muscaria would go quite well with yoga, and it would synergize with the cannabis (maybe even with some psilo mushies as well).

You shouldn't need to smoke cannabis for yoga to work for you.
It's like you shouldn't need to some weed to enjoy a movie. But when you start to do that all the time, you're not going to be able to fully enjoy a movie without the weed.

In my case weed stopped working for me if I smoke more than once a week maybe. I used to smoke daily but it doesn't work for me that way anymore. But we're all different.

I love combining yoga with a delicious sativa (green crack and haze are two of my favorites)! However, I am a daily smoker Smile If I only smoked a few times per month, I don't think I'd be able to get myself off the couch to do any yoga...

My favorite combo would have to be the following though:

Oral harmalas + (5-10 mg rips out of a GVG every ten minutes or so) + Yoga + good music + happy pitbull on couch = Very happy

Peace and Happy Journeys Smile

Thanks for all the replies, it's interesting to hear people's experiences. I've practiced once before while on mushrooms, and it was a clear breakthrough to a "special room" filled with elves and ancestors whose smiles were wider than the horizon and cheering my entrance---very DMTesque...

I usually just take a few puffs from a one-hitter in my car before shuffling into the studio, and that alone has made for a profound experience. It just seems to me these practices were made for each other.

I have never got any "real" psychedlic experiences like when eating mushroom for example while practicing yoga. But very estatic rushes throughout the spin up to the head and I've seen cevs when im was im movment with closed eyes.

Do you get all tripped out like TS describes when you practice yoga sober?
its too dangerous to let anyone feel better, then everyone's going to want to feel better and society depends on suffering so that can't happen

Although marijuana can enhance the perception of energy, I prefer not to do meditation/yoga while stoned because it messes with my concentration and memory so badly, plus it screws up my dream recollection/lucid dreaming ability so IMO it's not worth it.

weed + yoga/meditation/stretching/reiki or anything like that is the bomb.

i try to do it regularly when i use weed, which has been lately, i will have to stop doing it regularly when i turn back into a full-time student, perhaps it will become a once/fortnight activity.

the post above is funny cause spartan's post count is 420...

i think that if you want to do it, then do it, it can enhance the experience if you want it to, or it can not be worth it if you want it to be not worth it, the choice to do it or not is yours, and also i think that whether it enhances the experience or makes it worse is somewhat your choice also, perhaps 15 your choice, perhaps 99% who knows...
