Has anyone noticed a boost in cognitive abilities after an LSD trip, say at the 12-15 hour point after dosing? For example, during the peak it's the opposite- I feel overwhelmed and it's very difficult to talk, but I've noticed that as I come down my confidence, creativity, and communication skills are increased. It's like my thoughts are more fluid/quick/easier to form and communicate them, perhaps due to a change in neurotransmitter levels and/or brain hemisphere synchronization? (Although after I go to sleep and wake up several hours later I'm back to my dull "normal" cognitive ability.)
I haven't noticed it on mushrooms or DMT, only acid.
What are your theories/ideas on this?

What are your theories/ideas on this? I have noticed it on mushrooms and ayahuasca two. I have no explanation for it...It feels abit like a rebounce-effect: first i´m overwhelmed, stunned, speechless, and then suddenly everything falls into place, in conversations, i can immediately visualise what someone else is saying and words come naturally, etc...I also find that my sense of humour increases after a trip. I can laugh realy hard about little things that normally go unnoticed. Probably most of our skills are rooted in very basic instincts, intuitions. Psychedelic´s bring you in direct contact with that source. It could also be that brainwaves are harmonised in a sense. The feedbackloop that the brain runs is increased anyway, so maybe that leads to a certain 'resonance'. I´m pretty sure that both lower frequency´s and higher frequency´s are increased during a trip.

Me too. The acid trip itself is often chaotic, exciting and at times stupifying. The afterglow is characterised by such deep clearity and a feeling of being exhausted, but in a most satisfied, content way.
I find that I am less emotionally disturbed and can speak my mind clearer, without becomming emotionally over engaged. A constant unrest and general hastyness in me is replaced by a deep calm and a sense of "all time in the world".
I have had the same happen on Mushrooms and most notably Ayahuasca, allthough the deep calm that LSD leaves me with seems more pronounced somehow. I guess the calming, clearifying after-effect of acid is just really intense but shortlived, whereas the calm, clear afterglow of Mushrooms and Ayahuasca is much more Subtle, yet also much longer lived. IMHO that is.
My ayahuasca afterglow lasted several weeks for instance.

Yeah I've definitely felt this way during and after the trip. And the cognitive enhancing effects of lsd can last for a long long time afterwards i think..and in the afterglow i'm way less prone to even cannabis paranoia. I dunno about brain hemisphere syncronization, but the right hemisphere has been shown to be way more sensitive to lsd than the left, so something like this might be going on. When giving it to patients without a right hemisphere it elicited almost no response i guess according to E.A. Serafetinides
<Ringworm>hehehe, it's all fun and games till someone loses an "I"

It's good to hear others have experienced this too. I wish I could get the same effect without taking anything though. Shadowman-x wrote:http://www.tripzine.com/pit/pdf/multi-state-theory.PDF
this is worth reading. Damn, my computer won't open PDF for some reason. Do you have a different link?
