some strange things have been happening on fb and maybe someone can explain how they do that

recently i got friend suggestions from adenium, how do they know i am interested in adenium?
I also use a plugin which is supposed to block fb from checking my browsing history.


Another similar event which is even stranger. A neighbor lets call him Mr One made a fb account and befriended me.

Another neighbor, Mr two, who is not friends with either of us got Mr One suggested as a friend 5 times within the next day until he accepted him.


Strange times, not afraid or anything but can anyone explain how they can technically do these kind of things.

I'm not sure man, but similar things have happened to me.
It's like they have access to all my personal info and my web history, scary stuff.

More reason to deactivate fb! When it first started it was meant for friends to keep in touch but now it's all about advertising.
Many times i've mentioned something in a supposedly private message only to be bombarded with adverts for the same things! Just shows everything you do on there is watched including what you do on your mobile phone!
I deactivated it in the end, even that is a challenge in itself..

ps. just found out fb somehow gathers info about all your online web browsing. If you are logged into fb and visit adenium then fb knows... Might be something to do with stored cookies on your pc or maybe a datamining program fb stores on your pc.

Consider using separate web browsers, one for facebook and the other for everything else.

Facebook realy sucks: you may think you´re a customer of them, a client...but actually you´re the product they sell.

And they have their techniques for that. How they do it? Well, how would you do it?

They install cookies that follow you to every site you visit... It's a fact, I think they do it for advertising.

I use Firefox for my occasional, painful, mostly business oriented visits to FecesBoot. Safari for all else. I have been saying it for years, but FB, and Gmail for that matter, are the closest things we have to Big Brother. They are watching - but you still have to give them permission to do so.

I personally don't really mind the lack of privacy. I think everybody putting themselves out in the open just gets us one step closer to accepting each other and moving toward a more integrated, collective consciousness sort of society, though it would be nice if they would ask our permission for these kinds of things first. Plus, even if I'm just being targeted as a consumer, I may as well get sales pitches for things I might actually be interested in. I'm not condoning big brother's methods, but I think even some of their mal-intended pursuits could have some positive outcomes.

A while ago they were trawling iPhones synced with Fb for contact details. I had a couple of odd friend suggestions, as did a friend I was chatting with on the subject.

When I did a bit of research I found the contents of my address book on Fb (you could delete it at least). I don’t know whether they are still using this or where it was but you can have a bit of a stare around on the web to find the answer I did.

facebook is a data compiling agency used to basically spy on people. I regret even signing up. I am soon going to delete my account-which itself does not remove everythng you have already put up on facebook from authorities..they can still gain access even after you close your account..but at least nothing new will go up and I wont have to deal with 100 friend requests from people I dont care to talk to.

Ya its pretty lame, I keep seeing this more and more and then sometimes I will notice in the corner of whatever random page I'm on is a facebook icon with my name so I exit it and log out of FB. It seems to go away after that....sometimes.

It is becoming really ridiculous when you have to provide a facebook account to apply for a job!
But lets not forget that facebook and twitter are also great tools of communication for the occupy movement.

Is Fb compulsory nowadays?

I personally don’t use my real name online except when I am working or buying things. Most people I know do not know my real name. Even many people I have known near 20 years don’t know who I am legally. People I meet through my work or the state don’t know who I am to my friends until they become one of my friends out of work.

Be clever and you can limit the amount of access people have to data they can tie to a legal entity, or at worst you can make their lives a bit more awkward.

Yup, I wanted to apply for a job online and it wouldn't let me until I entered my facebook, myspace, or twitter account!!
Didn't need a job like that anyway.
