Since quitting marijuana last week my dream recall is returning and I've been having a lot of sleep paralysis happen. Well, a couple days ago I woke up from sleep, got up to relieve myself, and returned to bed. Very soon after laying there I started to feel funny and recognized it as the familiar state of sleep paralysis, only I didn't lose consciousness. My body fell asleep before my mind did. I thought to myself, SWEET, time to attempt a projection! I stayed calm and "willed" myself loose from my body but was having difficulty "getting out".

After a few attempts I managed to get my legs free which then started floating up towards the ceiling. Then slowly the rest of my (etheric?) body "peeled away" and floated up into the air but my head was still "attached"! I tried to wiggle free but was stuck! What a strange sensation it was. Shocked I must have gave up or lost consciousness at that point because I can't remember what happened next but I don't think I succeeded detaching completely. Sad

I was just wondering if anyone has had this happen to them or something similar? Does anyone have any tips? I did notice that I didn't feel the usual vibrations that accompany the beginning stage of my usual OBE's I've had in the past so maybe that had something to do with it?

As much as I dearly love that plant, I will never return to daily bong sessions... for this reason alone. (And that it no longer gets me high... but rather drags me down from my naturally high state.) I actually have no plans of ever smoking grass again. Ahhhh... glorious ganja.

As for your OOBE...

It is a common occurrence actually. If your sleep paralysis or your relaxation is incomplete, it will be difficult to complete a full exit technique. It sounds like you were nearly there. Congrats. Next time you just might achieve the full blown experience.

My advice to you is to make sure you are relaxed all over before attempting an exit.

This can be done by consciously going through your entire body and breathing peace, light and vibration to each spot. You can also tense up the muscles (very slowly) and then release on an exhale to deepen the relaxation and catch any stray muscles that might retain some tiny bit of tension. When you can no longer tense the muscles, you can be sure that they probably won't hold you back.

Many people have a hard time relaxing their head muscles. There are a number of major muscle groups in the head that a lot of people never even consider stretching or relaxing. The ones around your sinuses for example...

Actually, the jaw muscle is often called the strongest muscle in the body pound for pound. It also holds a ridiculous amount of tension. If I had to guess, I would say that these two muscles account for a large percentage of people's failed OOBE attempts... I could be wrong of course, but it is certainly a difficult set of muscles to fully relax.

Another thing you might want to try is to develop your exit technique a bit. Wait till the vibrations and wave sensations get more pronounced. Most people float up and out, but I find that twisting out can be more effective. Rolling over can be good, but rotating your astral body 90 degrees on the horizontal plane is my favorite. This is because if you don't succeed, you don't necessarily blow your sleep paralysis.

Trying to lift up and out when you're not quite there often results in actually moving your body. Then you're back to square one... worse actually as it may be nigh impossible to regain the SP. (You can do it, but it is tricky.)

Finding yourself in that coveted state of mind awake, body asleep is not always a simple matter... so anything you can do to not blow your wad is useful. With the rotate out method, I have been able to make 3 or 4 exit attempts in a row.

Thanks HF. Although I find progressive relaxation to be a bit tedious, it is important, especially if you're body is stiff from several hours sleep. After reflection on my experience, and what you have said, I believe I may have attempted to exit a little too soon.

For some reason, nowadays I don;t get the pre-exit vibrations much any more, and if I do, they aren't very strong like they used to be. I attribute this to lack of energy. Looks like I have much work to do. Maybe I will try to get a boost from a little bit of Changa before I an attempt.Wink

Yes, quitting the weed has had a tremendous effect on my dream recall. I'm starting to work through some repressed emotions too, since I have been using the weed as an escape mechanism for much too long. I think, and hope, that the worst of the anger is over (and it was BAD the first couple days).

S2, it could also be that you are simply more familiar with these borderline states and the transitional realms.

I don't get much heavy vibrations anymore either. I think that regular Hyperspace journeys, as well as a general rewiring of your spiritual circulatory system (meridians and nadis)... even your whole central nervous system... basically leaves you without as thick walls to dissolve or overcome. I can only speak from personal experiences, but I find that my walls and boundaries have become so thin, that I can frequently just drop them at will. A short session on a brain wave sound and light machine can throw me all the way into deep theta in a matter of a couple minutes.

Perhaps your lack of extreme wave phenomenon is due to something like this.

wait this actuallly happens? lately ive been urged away from weed and finding it just numbing and dull entertainment which seperates me from the beauty of the moment, just smoking because thats what ive always been doing; habit.

and dreams lately have been...intense. even with ganja when i first awake i can remember the dreams, but never am fully able to 'follow' it much further than whatever just happend before i wake.

ganja seems to be numbing me out from (as you said hyperspacefool) my 'natural high' but i also find it hard that it could be 'holding me back' in any spiritual-awakening sense
i think after this weekend ill stop the pipe hits for a while, thanks for the post

Yes it does.Very happy I feel like the other half of me is awake now- my "dream body".

Weed has it's place and can be useful, but chronic use/over-indulgence tends to keep you "numb and dumb". I love it but I hate it!Rolling eyes

I am worried that since quitting, I am lacking the anti-cancer properties of the weed, so I'm loading my body up with supplements that are known to have anti-cancer properties. If you decide to quit, I would suggest starting a daily dose of at least one of the following:

-Inositol
-Turmeric
-Fish oil
-Green Tea extract
-Vitamin C (at least 500 mg/day)
-Vitamin D
-Food-based multiple vitamin (everyone should be taking this one anyways, IMHO)
