Yesterday I followed Vortex' STB TEK with 100 grams of MHRB
Used 1 tablespoon of Lye per 150 ml. of water... How much I can't remember, but I must have used enough to cover it...just like they do with coca leaves, a STB, minimal ammout of water
I broke the bark into little pieces with my hand and then I mixed it and stired a lot...
Added 150 of hexane, stired, waited for 2 hours and sucked it off into a wide glass dish
And I don't know whether my freezer is strong enough to precipitation so I just evaporated it...
Which yielded like a little less than half a gram
DO NOT BLEND the non polar with the bark solution. The bark with spread everywhere and the emulsions wont help either. So I learnt you gotta stir it good only. (thanks Traveler & DoingKermit)

Looking at your extraction and method I want to make two remarks:

1) The 'fats'. MHRB contains virtually no fats, so there is no reason for the 'byebye stb'. You probably picked up some coloring since you used hexane for the non-polar solvent. You do not have to worry about the coloring.

2) Your spice is waxy. The most common cause for this is that non-polar solvent is trapped in the DMT-crystals, making it waxy and smelling like non-polar solvent, you better clean this. To clean you redissolve your DMT in acetone and evaporate it again. After evaporating the acetone you will see it got pretty hard and only smells a bit like acetone, you can then chop it up with a razor blade to get a nice, fine grained spice and to evaporate any residual acetone.

oh and when I blended the whole thing, believe me, there was oil, wax, fat, whatever it was I could see and feel its density and naughtyness.. it was not coloured hexane, but stuff that I have seen when extracting coffee! Not that much gross of course.
I'm doing the 2nd pull... like 300 ml of hexane, yes I added too much... cause when I added 100 ml for the second pull, I had the stupid idea of blending it, so I got huge emulsions and pieces of bark all over the hexane, so I had to add more cause I couldn't think of how to remove the weird stuff out of the blended solution. and a/b? whatever

question: should I get anhydrous acetone to purify the dimitry or would it work with a little ammount of water in it?

Use anhydrous acetone (99%). If you can't buy it that pure, you can bake epsom salts in the oven to create anhydrous magnesium sulphate and when you add it to the acetone it will absorb the water.

I don't understand why you would use a blender to mix everything together. Did you read that somewhere? Next time i would blend the bark pieces BEFORE adding water, base, and solvent. Also, i have found that an acid/base extraction yields more than straight to base when using shredded/whole pieces and is just generally less messy IMHO. You can get the same results with a STB, but you may have to let the bark sit in the basic water for a few days. Good luck!

I loved it. Specially in the evening at the park.
Something I dont understand is why it didn't work when I smoked it in a light bulb, there was all the smoke but I only felt my lips burn cause of little excess of lye, but I didnt get the effects.
But it worked with a common wooded pipe with a little weed. Amazing. Such a strong body euphoria, and the psychedelia... I fell in love with it..
Is there a way of making it last more than 15 minutes?
For the water wash, how much sodium carbonate and water should I use

Also powdering your bark will inrcease yields by alot!

Light bulb pipes will be a waste of spice for sure. They are such an inefficient way of smoking. If you want the experience to last more than 15 minutes you can dose yourself with harmalas first. Smoking changa also lengthens the experience. As for the carbonate wash, the wiki says to use a pinch of sodium carbonate to about 50ml of water.
