Well, before I dried my cactus, I read somewhere that it is ok to dry the cactus with the skin on because once it is dry, the skin can easily be pulled off. Well, I dried my cactus and it is so brittle that there really is no way to separate the skin from the flesh now. Can I just grind it all up and consume it with the skin?

Yeah you can. People report it can add more nausea to the experience. Maybe due to digestion. Take it with a cup of coffee.

As far as I know the skin has got alks, but I may be mistaken! I thought it was more the woody core that was redundant.
The trees spoke to me through the wind. The more I listened, the more they spoke.

you could always use those to make tea/resin, and then have the option to extract from that.

He is referring to the transparent almost plastic-like layer that coats the green skin underneath it, in which you are referring to psilocybechild.

you want the skin, the inner layer contains almost ALL of the actives. Just throw it all in there and boil it!

i believe i read somewhere that the skin has 76 or 78% of the alkaloids, but i could be wrong; and im almost sure it varies from plant to plant....

Well, I was planning on eating it dry, in capsules or perhaps putting it all in a huge protein shake or juice or something.

the true skin is thin, waxy, indigestible and has zero alkaloids
the layer just under that, the green stuff has the highest concentration of alk in the plant, but data shows that in at least one species despite this layer having the highest concentration of alkaloids, it has only 1/3 of the total alkaloid of the plant
here is where i address this:
https://www.dmt-nexus.me...aspx?g=posts&t=24995

what is important to realize is that this layer is 1/10-1/20 of the plant in terms of mass, so having 1/3 of the total alkaloid is a big deal, if alk was distributed evenly this layer would have 1/10-1/20 the total alkaloid, but still the majority of the alkaloid in the plant is not found in this layer, rather the dry weight concentration of alk is richest in this layer

the waxy skin is a lot like that of peppers, of tomatoes and other things like that, it is indigestible, but not a source for concern and does not cause nausea, unlike mescaline.

That was a cool thread. People always say to throw away the core to. Hmmmm.

the woody core is good to discard, but taste the core, often it is bitter. But what you should not discard is the layer between the vascular bundle that we are calling the core and the green layer just under the skin, between this is a whitish tissue that despite containing a lower per weight concentration of alkaloids than the outer green layer still contains the majority of the alkaloid found in the plant
