I thought I'd post this so we can all feel extra smart Smile

High Childhood IQ Linked to Subsequent Illicit Drug Use, Research Suggests

Makes sense to me that propaganda works better on people with a less logic mind.

Haha, I just read that article then I came here. It was a fascinating read to be sure. Why wouldn't the more intelligent of us question the outlawing of certain substances? To me, it's the easiest line of logic to follow: America is called the land of the free. But I can't even make my own decisions about what to put in my body. Conclusion: I'm not really free. This is pretty basic intelligence as far as I'm concerned.

I think that with intelligence comes the ability/instinct to question the obviousness of facts. With intelligence comes questioning of the nature of things. With drug use, one also comes to question the nature of things. Intelligence and (psychedelic) drug use are therefore very good companions Smile

I would not call myself intelligent but I certainly do take the time to figure out questions like why and how. This has lead me to much trouble and good Twisted Evil

Well... most of the drugs listed are addictive and prone to abuse, and are not necessarily the drugs we are concerned with here (with the exception of LSD Wink ). I think the explanation that bright kids get bored and afraid when unchallenged and ostracized is the better explanation of why they are given to greater "drug" use in later life. At least under the parameters of that study, in which drugs are generally considered escapist and destructive.

I would like to see a study that correlates high pre-teen or adolescent IQ with later use of LSD, Mushrooms, Ayahuasca, mescaline and vaped DMT - that would likely be revealing!! (I purposefully did not list salvia - the multitude of youtube videos I have seen clearly indicate the opposite correlation with this particular plant Wink )

JBArk
JBArk is a Mandelthought; a non-fiction character in a drama of his own design he calls "LIFE" who partakes in consciousness expanding activities and substances; he should in no way be confused with SWIM, who is an eminently data-mineable and prolific character who has somehow convinced himself the target he wears on his forehead is actually a shield.

Gifted childeren are also more likely to underperform at school and even to totally quit school. A third of all the gifted childeren never get´s a high school diploma.

Society doesn´t like brainy people. They´re tolerated at most.

Paris hilton is probably seen as a role model by more women, than marie curie, jane goodall or lise meitner.

I correlate intelligence (or better yet, wisdom) more with inquisitiveness. Being inquisitive and open (while also being skeptical) allows one to have more "experiences". The more experiences one has, in whatever from they may take, can lead to greater wisdom.

The children and ultimately adults who have always done what they're told and never questioned anything seem to be the ones of a less intelligent nature.....IMO of course.

Interesting article though.
