thanks for the reply,,

so the naptha used for the 3-4 defats--is this washed and recycled for future extractions?

SWIM didn't recycle the naphtha. He's not even too sure how to recycle solvents other than investing in one of those huge machines they have in professional labs. But he did end up spending about 14 dollars for the naphtha that he used for the de-fat as well as the extraction itself. (about two liters or so of naphtha.)

Some people say that you don't even have to defat when extracting from MHRB powder, but I would not know what the final product would look like without the de-fat.

Hope that helps!

my apologies, saying "i've seen purer" was a bit misleading (and I was kidding, I don't know the percent purity of your product). you can't see pure, per se, any more than you can claim "it's pure" without testing for purity...it has to be determined by analytical means. I've 'seen' it with a melting point apparatus, and HPLC-MS

you product looks very clean, but purity claims are qualitatively relative unless quantified

but good stuff, nonetheless. looks similar to Phlux's

Ah... Haha, no worries. Smile Iz just eager for some more feedback/advice. I was actually asking myself the same thing though... Because I wasn't completely convinced that a crystallized product necessarily equates to a smooth toke. This stuff was somewhat harsh when SWIM first tried it. My concern was the presence of residual NaOH sneaking up inside that crystal lattice. However, people on the forum have told me of how hard it is to correctly vaporize it without a GVG.

I remember back in my college chemistry lab, they had one of those melting point apparatuses, and it was really cool! Looking back now, I wish I would've taken a little five finger discount... but I'm only joking because stealing is wrong. Wink
