I ordered some san pedro off ebay and when I got them last week, I opened the box and checked the first one, it looked great, I didn't check the other ones. Then today I went to grab the box and I noticed it was wet. I opened it up and poured all the cacti out and this is what I got. 2 of them are ok, but these look horrible. I assuming they are rotten. Thanks for any input.

Yeah those look pretty rotton to me. Maybe you can cut off the rotting portion at least and salvage whatever you can from them. Good luck!

Yep that black moldy shit is nasty. Its happened to me before drying out cactus in a food dehydrator cut in largish slices. Left it off for a day or two and they began to mold. If you're extracting, keep it all and there should be no issue. Teaing the moldy cactus is just a bad idea imo. No idea what spores they are or if they are harmful to ingest.

That sucks though, and I'm sorry you had cactus go bad on you Sad. i feel its best to cut up what you are not going to immediately plant, and dry it. That way it can't mold, is much more store-able, and gentle drying has no affect on potency from what i've heard.

What i would do in your case, is take all the moldy shit, dry it, and pull with isopropyl. then evaporate the resin and freebase it with lime, pull again with acetone or dlimo, then salt with hcl. The alcohol should stop it from molding more, and basifying and pulling again should ensure you get almost all of the nasty out so its safe to ingest.

In a society in which nearly everybody is dominated by somebody else's mind or by a disembodied mind, it becomes increasingly difficult to learn the truth about the activities of governments and corporations, about the quality or value of products, or about the health of one's own place and economy.
In such a society, also, our private economies will depend less upon the private ownership of real, usable property, and more upon property that is institutional and abstract, beyond individual control, such as money, insurance policies, certificates of deposit, stocks, etc. And as our private economies become more abstract, the mutual, free helps and pleasures of family and community life will be supplanted by a kind of displaced citizenship and by commerce with impersonal and self-interested suppliers...
The great enemy of freedom is the alignment of political power with wealth. This alignment destroys the commonwealth - that is, the natural wealth of localities and the local economies of household, neighborhood, and community - and so destroys democracy, of which the commonwealth is the foundation and practical means.” - Wendell Berry

I was hoping you'd do an extraction on them. I haven't ever seen results of a rotten extraction. I suppose all the goods should be there...

They look like standard predominant cultivar pachanoi.... Which can make an ok, albeit weak tea. By all means, go ahead with your plan. But, if you are let down, be aware that there are far better strains out there that contain a significantly higher amount of goodies (with a more fun mix of them).

Off the rack bridgesii is a better choice to brew than pc Pedro (in my opinion). Buying more potent clones of cacti is too expensive to brew them up until you have propagated them and growing your own supply.

Extractions are fun, but can be a pain in the ass and risk looking suspicious.... But with weak or boring ( poor mix of goodies) they are really key.

Good luck

Thanks for filling me in on the different types of San Pedro, I wasn't aware of that. I will look for bridgesii next time.

I know there are a bunch of extraction teks out there, can you recommend the one you prefer?

I like 69ron d-limo tek.

There are some tweaks that I do, but that's the basic template. It starts with powdered cactus so you will need to dry and coffee grinder your material.

You don't need to peel it if your grinder can handle the skin Smile

If you do decide to make a tea you can definitely freeze it. I did that recently and it worked out great.

yes, rotten cacti contain all the mescaline they did when healthy, and are easy to extract

Its quite easy to get into extracting. If your local grocery store has distilled vinegar, pickling lime, and sunflower/safflower oil your in business! Its also nice to have a mg amount experience you can weight against the tea. Gives you a better idea of relative potency in mgs. Also, mescaline in grapefruit juice tastes indescribably better than cactus sludge. Albeit with differing affects.

theres always next time though Smile

Bases on the ingredients you mentioned, do you have a tek that goes with those?

Madcap gave me one tek to check already. Wondering if you could mention one that goes with those ingredients you listed?

that is good^, sorry about your rotten guys i don't know much about cactus extraction, but i know you can browse through the wiki and find some things there.

i dont know about the mold part but i am sure it's still usable, just be safe and take your time, hopeful someone will chime in who has experience with moldy cacti.

Good luck Smile
