Are you planning to use it on yourself to treat hypertension?

If so, what is the cause of your hypertension ie 'essential' or secondary to another cause?

The reason I ask is that the best treatments vary depending on the underlying cause, if any.

The active ingredient in this Salvia species acts by blocking angiotensin II receptors and the Angiotensin Converting Enzyme (in mice anyway); agents of this type can be very hazardous if for example your hypertension is due to a stenosed renal artery, causing acute (or acute on chronic) renal failiure in humans.

well i never got a doctors take on it but i do have high blood pressure

i take no meds or anything that can alter by blood pressure, however i do have a high salty diet which soon here im going to cut out a lot of it. So i want to supplement with this and vitamin d and see how things go

I think you would be wise to get a doctors take on it because:

1.hypertension can potentially have a number of causes;

2.ACE inhibitors and AT2 receptor blockers can be very dangerous if you have certain kidney issues which can lead to worsening function;

3.These drugs can also cause problems if you have a tight aortic valve;

4,these drugs need monitoring of your renal function once you are on them.

Its advisable to get your renal function checked before going on such meds in case you have pre-existing renal impairment which can be a cause of hypertension.

Every time the dose is increased a further check on the kidney function is needed to ensure its not adversely affecting their excretory capacity.

These drugs can also interact with other medications (like diuretics, anti-inflammatory pain killers) to have an ADDITIVE effect on impairing kidney function.

Drus of this type(s) are very useful ,but its important that theres no contra-indication to their use before starting them.As mentioned in my post above, certain inherited cardiac disorders, plus a tight aortic valve can make using these meds very dangerous indeed.
