I just rememberd when I was at school I did a PDHPE assessment where we had to pick an alternetive medicine practive like massage or aromatherapie and then write an essay on it, I wrote about Ayahuasca. Looking back i find this really funny, I don't think my teacher knew anything about DMT because she didnt say anything and i got a pretty decent mark.
From memory I think I mainly wrote about the ceremony and what positive effects it's had on people, rather than the actul effects of the drug, i think i wrote a paragraph or two about DMT and how it works with the MAOI...

Did anyone else do anything like this when they were at school?

For my final research paper in my English class as a Senior in high school, I wrote a paper on the foundation of all religon being based on the use of psychoactive plants. I went to a school in the southeast and my teacher was an old devout christian lady. When I presented the idea to her, we got into an argument about certain scriptures in the Bible. To sum it up, she gave me the lowest grade possible without failing me.Confused

I have done this about 3 times so far since I've started college 2 years ago Smile I find it a good option for people interested in psychedelics because it gives you a chance to research into the subjects further and at the same time gives you a bit of a break if you are already quite informed about your topic.

Plus I rather enjoy informing people about the potentials of these socially shunned substances. Especially teachers who usually don't know much about it besides it's name and the propaganda that they absorb Smile

I usually write about cultural conditioning and societies perspective on prescription drugs vs. natural psychoactives. It's important for people to know these things since most people aren't told until they find out for themselves...

anyway, I'm glad you chose to use your schoolwork as an excuse to spread your knowledge, that's awesome.

To add to what I just said, It's also necessary that if your going to do this, know your stuff and make it look professional. I'm sure nobody would ever want people to get a negative outlook upon these things because of an interaction that implies we are just some drug users.

Indeed, I think even in grade 10 I managed to make DMT - to someone who isnt familiar with it - seem like a very beneficial substance, with only reading that paper I dont think anyone could even connected it to illicit drug use

I'm in midschool and we have to make a mandatory essay on some subject related to one of ur classes. I got physics/chemistry class and the teacher is alright. I choose to make an essay on drug chemistry and add some history about mushroom and ayahuasca rituals etc. basically i just bash on a lot of prescribtion drugs and glorify the naturals. There's nothing in it but facts tho. I keep my opinion out of it and let them form one themselves. It's nice to finally do something for school that I actually want to do anyway and I learn alot about all sorts of stuff as i keep writing.
My teacher is a really smart guy and I think that's why he respects my perspective and this subject, i'm sure I woulden't get away with it if I was in any other class. And I do make it to educate the teachers that are gonna be reading my essay. Razz

I gave a 15 minute presentation on DMT overall, covering things such as administration and indigenous use as well as potential benefits. I wrote a fairly lengthy research paper to go with it, all for my Senior English Class. I nearly got a perfect on it, but my teacher was also fairly crazy and liberal in her day. Wink

InfectedStyle,

Do you attend this middle school in USA or elsewhere? May I ask your age?

Well, I wrote about how stimulants and repressors cause short-term improvement for some mental conditions but it forms a mental and physical depency on regular drug-intake. It's industry and usage is also too young for us to know about the long-term consequences of regular drug-intake by masses of people. And hasn't been tested thoroughly enough, as opposed to naturals.

I also mentioned the long history of mushrooms in art and cave paintings. It's use as a sacrament by the Aztecs and the associations they have with Jesus. I haven't gotten to Ayahuasca's history yet, which kind of excites me because i haven't looked into that either. I wanted to depict the difference between how DMT and the likes affect the brain compared to stimulants which was quite interesting. But i got stuck right when i wanted to explore Salvinorun A or just Salvia and i'm faced with a bit of a puzzle. (If anyone has some useful information on this send me a PM and i'll greatly appreciate it.)

By the way, i'm 19 . I wasn't such a fan of school and the likes when i was a bit younger so it took a while but i re-entered class and am currently in Exams class. In the Netherlands.
