Right so, he came upon some MHRB and as you know the powder form can be a bit messy. His problem is that from this large bag (1700g) he needs to do isolated amounts of 125g for his jars. What would be a good way to transfer 125grams of powder into smaller vessels from this large bag without much loss or mess? He was thinking of cutting a corner off of the larger bag, attaching a funnel + hose (for precision pouring) and leading the hose into separate ziplocs and going from there. He's confident that this idea will work (unless the larger bag is so stuffed that it will not permit him to cut off a corner, or the funnel gets clogged too often). The other problem is that he wants the bags to weigh around 125g OR 250g for easy pouring into the jars. He's open to other suggestions of course. If anyone has experience with this, please share your technique. He'd rather not make a huge vat of solution using all 1700g.

Also, hello everyone Very happy

How about a big serving spoon?

You can transfer it into a cup and then from the cup into the other bag. Your losses should be minimal though you're guaranteed to have some stick to the cup and possibly to the air.

get some disposible plastic spoons and cups at the grocery store -- place the cup on the scale tare weight and use the spoon to shovel your materials into the cups - after your finished just feed the cups and spoons to the trash can no cleanup is nice

Why disposable plastics? You can just use ordinary kitchen utensils... a soup spoon and a wide-rimmed glass or small mixing bowl would do just fine. And that way you're not unnecessarily throwing away plastics. Or if you're dead-set on disposables, at least use the biodegradable sort.

@ Entropymancer

yes you could use non disposible items which would be preferable for enviromental reasons - but personally i do prefer plastic cups for measuring and weighing because im lazy i'd prefer to drop a cup in the can than in my sink

"at least use the biodegradable sort" paper would be preferable - good point

He could use single portion plastic yogurt containers they hold around 125gr full, just weigh one and put a permanent marker pen line on it at 125gr of MHRB . Voila, he then makes his own mini contribution
to recycling of materials.

do you really need to extract 1700g all at once? Why not just 1-200g? What are you doing with the DMT that would require that much all at once? Threads like this are a good way to raise unwanted eyebrows..

Beyond that it is called a spoon and a scale..Im sorry but this is a weird question with an obvious answer..

Maybe go into more detail about you and why you are here for your first post..an introduction is usually what people start off with here.
Long live the unwoke.

Just set a cup on a scale, weigh out 125 to 250 grams, dump it into a jar, then repeat.. Pour slowly to reduce the amount of powdered bark dust in the air. I don't understand why anyone would need to make it any more complicated.

After hours of thinking, i conclude that perhaps "A SPOON" could be used for such purposes...Embarrased

What? He never said he was going to use all 1700grams. He needed to scoop ~125g out of a large...well his first post covers it. Anywho, he hadn't actually seen the bag of powder until after he posted which explains why he asked the question in the first place. Usually his powder comes in zip-loc bags that leak everywhere and spill etc. so he was wondering if anyone else had better ideas for transferring extremely fine powder that flies everywhere at the slightest breath.. He had considered the spoon+cup ideas but figured there would be too much loss in addition to it being too time consuming. Alas, he decided to go that route anyway with only minimal losses, because this time it was in an industrial bag with no zip-loc bs. Basically he was trying to take the route of perfection. But a genuine thanks to all who replied...he got a laugh from the calculus recommendation...that's his kind of humor Smile
