Hello guys!

Something that really frustrates me about shrooms, is that if you eat loads and loads, it is impossible to sleep after.

Does anyone have any strategies/aids in which to help with sleeping after large mushroom dosages? I want to avoid things like valium (as they are synthetic - it would be sacrilege!)

Love.

There's nothing that realy helps, immediately after shrooms. You just have to wait a few hours. Just take a walk or a bath and relax a little. Impatiently waiting in bed for sleep to come is counterproductive and a waste of afterglow-effects.

you cant sleep because you have not come down yet fully. You will sleep fine once at baseline. Take them in the mornning maybe if it is a big deal..

Even when ive came down the afterglow can keep me awake. I always tend to dose earlier than I used to so I get a decent sleep that night, older I get the more reponsible Im getting.

I dislike taking them in the morning, I try and get my tasks done during in the day - the shrooms are to kick back with, knowing I have nothing hanging over my head. Also, if I take them in the morning Im foggy til I sleep, which can be frustrating.

Its not a massive deal, but maybe I should just take them a bit earlier...but then i find it quite hard to keep eating more. I fear if I took them in the morning I would just eat them til night anyway. I just love them so much! Laughing

you could try a natural food market, they might have natural sleep aids. I personally use 300mg niacin when i want to get sleepy, but it will be accompanied by a hot flush.
as above, so below

A nice opiate, nothing serious, would always lift me to the clouds after a hard journey. I very rarely take opiates, but they have their place. It can be well deserved after some of the things you endure. You won't go to sleep anyway, but it makes for a soft landing.

Hm perhaps that is a good call...however, as with valium, I want to try and avoid pharmaceuticals...maybe a codeine wouldnt hurt though, I guess?

That's what I meant, like half a vic or something, to take the edge off. 10-12 hours after a strong rue/shroom journey, floating on a cloud is a nice way to drift off to sleep. Simple pod tea would work too. It's too bad paregoric isn't around any more, it was a standardized extract. The problem with tea is dosage, it is better to just take a pill.

Benzos will bring you down, so I don't recommend those if you want to keep the afterglow. To me, they have a bigger psychological impact, in a classic depressant sort of way. Opiates work well with the afterglow, if not enhance it.

man, don't even think about taking valium just to help you sleep when you're on mushrooms! Why not just take them early enough so you're not trying to sleep while under the influence? I believe the reason peeps can't sleeps on mushrooms, or other psychedelics is because the mind is too active, too many neurons firing that (I believe) need to be inactive in order for sleep to occur. Maybe you asked this question because you want to sleep while under the influence of entheogens to see what your dreams are like? But unfortunately, that does not seem possible.

^^ Agree 200%! If you took them then why do you want to sleep over the top of them? To me (and I say this with all due respect) it's just a matter of planning. If you have trouble sleeping on them until 10 hours after you take them, then only take them 10 hours before you need to sleep. I know that's a simplistic response, but it's a fair response in all actuality.

Now, with regard to my personal experience, I guess I'm just really lucky. Mushrooms are truly my best friend psychedelic in the world. They are my true friend, teacher, inspirational guide, and moderator of my serotonin and dopamine synapses . From reading this thread I appear to be one of the few lucky ones who can actually sleep like a baby on small or large doses of mushrooms. As soon as I feel it's time to curl up into my cocoon then I just snuggle up and off to amazing dreams I go! Warm and fuzzy it always feels.

Peace!

Well this will happen, this is a very common side effect from mushrooms.
My advice take a long trip into the woulds with some music of your choice.

when you say loads and loads how much are you eating?

The reason why it´s hard to fall asleep is because hallucinogenic´s decrease the amount of serotonin in the brain. Serotonin is the precursor of melatonin. So your clock is always a bit off, after having had mushrooms, LSD or mescaline.

Maybe melatonin helps.

I usually take shrooms at night, and then i just skip a night.
