Occupy Wall Street - Activists Gather for Demonstrations

I think this is awesome. Finally a revolution starting on American soil.

It began Sept. 17th and is planned to continue until Dec. 31st.

Anyone in or near the Big Apple, please go show your support.

More information can be found at https://occupywallst.org/

So far there has been virtually no mass media coverage, so please share this via your Facebook, Twitter and other social networking accounts. We need to raise as much awareness about this as possible.

Here is a direct link to their Facebook event page.

Please don't forget to share!

Best of luck to all who get involved...not from the US but highly supportive of such action. Corporate greed is an international phenomena.

Do people think it will get support of blue collar working class...even white collar workers? I think that is what would really be needed. Now that would be a sight, seeing cultural boundaries drop and everyone coming together.

Hope this gets to the same level as it has is Spain (also mostly ignored by big media).

Something tells me this won't be taken seriously if Anonymous is involved.

Anonymous came late to the game...but of course that's what the press chose to hype up.

Thanks for posting this. It makes me remember when I was living in NYC after the WTC came down. I participated in several large protests against military invasions of the Middle East-- they were also not covered.

Momentum may be building. My spouse just sent me this link:
Freedom Plaza Occupation in October

I see a lot of momentum building for deep change.

I hate to say it but eventually this will come down to police getting bullets in the head, and politicians and bankers having there throats slit, I am peaceful, and hope for a peaceful outcome. I only hope that others will be as well.

Watching that video is so disturbing, these innocents are being arrested and all there fellow protesters are just taking pictures and watching, should be fighting the unjust police en masse when it comes to this. They have control through use of fear.........grinds my gears.

Assuming it's still going on, I'm involved in the process of organizing a group to go up next thursday evening...can't wait. I'll be there with my weather underground helmet and a megaphone.

The only thing is, with no leadership, there's not much potential for pragmatic discussion as things currently stand. Nonetheless, just getting a crowd together and being seen in opposition to the current status quo is a start Cool

Good work guys! Do go for the protest!

If the protests here in Spain can be of inspiration, there's no need for a real centralized leadership. Spontaneously suggest assemblies, where people can take turns to speak on the megaphone and make suggestions. Then people can raise/wave their hand if its a YES/approve, or they raise and cross their arms with closed fists if its a NO. Here we established that a certain percentage (like say, 15%) of the people had veto power, so it isnt just about the 'dictatorship of the 50%+1' (also makes it harder to reach a decision, but def worth the difficulty, to reach real consensus).

Also dont forget to use the internet to spread the word. Making a webpage dedicated to it, using social media, spreading any pictures/videos that also show police brutality. Get support as much as you can from different organizations, but dont let one or other organization take the lead and turn it into a politically benefitting event for them.

Good luck to you all, we're here in support for you guys and girls!

They've got a site: https://occupywallst.org/

Also, I've heard rumors from friends already there that there have been social media blackouts on wall street for mobile technology at the absolute least...looks like they're trying to silence the people...we'll see how that goes.

Footage of the elites on balconies, grinning at the sight of struggling protestors, exemplifies the clear class conflict.

hey does'nt anyone at the nexus work in the stock market ?

the way the rules and society is totally wrong , i understand this
but there are people who take totall advantage of this and rip the system hard ,
you can too be on the winning side ,

if it was not for the market and our system , corporations and banks would never fail , the wall street is helping our situation by making huge crashes in the financial system and thus opening people's eyes to the inherit weakness of the system , the market is creating a grand way for the entire system to fail ( this is a good thing for it brings revolutions)

the change we are all looking for is all coming true by the help of bankers , brokers and stock players , if it was not for them corporations will turn everyone into a macdonalds boy and getting them to do what they want , to avoid such slavery the market provides an oppertunity for the common man to make money as well as cause corporations to lose money , ofcoure the market does not want bail-outs that is the governments fault , the market wants to do what is has always been doing causing huge crashes to make people realize that a new system is required

the protest has to take place outside the white house not wallstreet ?? even in the times of vietnam the protests were happening outside the whitehouse ,

ok yes i agree i have kinda appreciation for the market but its not the market you wanna bring down , it is the government ! the market is not asking for bailouts for these corporations , afterall the market makes its money when these corporations go down , the market wants these corporations to fail , but the government is what is trying to push more money into these failing corporations , why well i guess the idea is simple ? (governments have been bought by the rich folks) , the market is a free economical system which helps to show the inherit weakness of such governments ,

difference between the market and government is - the market is free and cannot be bought with money and government on the other hand is totally ready to be bought and used to any rich guys advantage

pls protest outside the whitehouse if any real change has to happen
illusions !, there are no illusions
there is only that which is the truth

I can't help but notice a major difference in the relationship between dissenter and authority in southern Europe and the U.S. The dissenters of southern Europe do not fear the police, for they go as far as to physically resist and violently clash en masse. The dissenters of the U.S. seem terrified of the police, not laying a hand against them. You'll see dissenters chase off the police in southern Europe, while in the U.S., it's the other way around. Perhaps this is a consequence of a hardened police state, but a police state can only form and exist if its citizens do not resist.
