well SWIM's dream life has ramped up ever since psychedelics in general..and then once he smoked dmt...a few timesPleased...he started noticing VAST differences in his dreams...

they seem more epic...prolonged and eventful...not always pleasant..but lots of chases and being chased...becoming robots and being injected with different drugs by 'people' with big smiling mouths and very large round eyes...if anything he says it would feel like ketamine..but SWIM has never done it awake..so he wouldnt know

taken drugs hes never even heard of...which is always entertaining...haha its like what drug is SWIM's mind going to come up with tonight!?

hes taken to self-hypnosis..in the hopes to train himself to become aware while dreaming..so that he can use the dream time as a self directed show for the evening..and other exploration into that realm..

he has had some dreams where he becomes conscious and realizes hes dreaming..but hes never tried to separate from his body while doing so...he says only on some of the more powerful dmt trips hes been on has he been taken 'out' of his body..

it's a sound

interesting jorkest...

Something truely strange has started to happen to me ona few occasions now.. salvia trips while dreaming..

2 nights ago after an earlier light salvia journey and getting very stoned, I fell asleap. I awoke a few hours later and recalled a very vivid dream I had jsut had. I was with friends and we were in the presence of some sort of sorcerer or brujo woman who was going to use her magic against us..

I had no idea what to do, so out of nowhere i somehow willed what I guess was a group salvia experience. We all disolved into an egoless mass of conciousness, very salvia-esque, rendering her incapable of performing any act against us as we were now all one.. not sure what happened next but I knew somehow that it had worked.

The night before that I also had another dream involving me and jimmy hendrix Laughing . Jimmy kept smoking the sage and loved it, so we went out and did all these diff things(cant recall all of these parts), except for that we smoked lots of sage and i can clearly remeber haing some intense egoless and unitive experiences where me and jimmy and others with us would all disolve into this one concious being and migrate around this strange state. Then we would come down and laugh about it and go right back Very happy

A few months ago I had a strange DMT-like dream.
I was running along with a bunch of hyenas at my right. In my dreams, they stand for death. No fear... then a huge snake, half a meter across appears, moving with the hyenas and then encircling me. Even in this dream I was thinking: it's like a DMT snake! Brilliant multicolored patterned skin, then it became flat, part of the ground, like a moving carpet. Emanating huge power... Quetzalcoatl? Could I ever have dreamt that without having experienced the spice??

I wonder about that as well, weather its endogenous DMT realease, or if our subconcious is tapping into memories of what the spice state is like to create the experience..

had one of the most intense dream trips ever last night..I had ingested an unkown ammount of san pedro cactus, and then took a few hits of salvia. The strange thing was that it was more like quidding salvia as it built up over a long period of time, to a peak so intense I was lost. All i remember was falling down a while after the visuals started, and began descending deeper and deeper down some tunnel like hallway into another world, but it was unbearable. I was freaking out..just completely lost in it..

Then I woke up and it was like i was actually still kinda tripping for about 5 mintues and my mind was racing...i went and drank some water and fell back asleap..into another dream where humans now had the ability to travel in deep space. So I ended up on this ship going to another planet that was populated by humans, except there was no land, only ocean and machine-city like islands. I met some beatiful girl there and she told me of the size of the planet(many times larger than earth), and she agreed to take me on a tour of her world..then I woke up.. the part about the other planet was sort of similar to other worlds i have flown over while working with ayahuasca.

In Africa dreams were often more important, I believe mainly because more recent African shamans lacked the knowledge of the waking entheogens of their area, or that source had disappeared long ago.

Silene capensis (syn. Silene undulata) "Root of the White Ways" is just one of the African dream inducing ethnobotanicals.

coatl.. have you worked with capensis?? Is it useful for lucidity?

Also, dreams are very important to the indigenous people of australia.. I find their theories of the dreamtime extremely interesting..

Silene is very good for lucid dreaming.

SWIM has taken THH and dmt right before going to sleep..mostly though..the strange..lucid dreams come a few days AFTER you have a clear system...

a good technique is to pack a bowl of calea Z. and leave it next to your bed..so that when you wake up in the middle of the night or the morning..you smoke the bowl and doze off back to sleep..

but fractal that san pedro and salvia experience..i have a question...was it an extract? or just leaf..because SWIM personally enjoys the smoking the leaf way more than the extract

I dont smoke extract, i have.. but not for years, I grow my own and just smoke the plain leaf...i find I can achieve full breakthrough off 2 or 3 large hits in succession very easily..

dont really remember the specifics of what i smoked as this was a dream(Inever actually ingested anything, it all happened in a dream), but i am sure it would have been just leaf..

I have also drank aya right before sleep, and very early in the morning as well, in low doses so I could still fall back asleap and it was very strange..ive was just thinking that maybe if i can get some beta carbolines going through my system it would extend and potentiate my own endogenous melatonin and pinoline..worth trying I guess..or maybe i will try smoking some rue half way through the night..

I have had one interesting experience with calea a few years ago, but only when i drank a large tea and smoked some in a joint right after.

Also not smoking cannabis for a few days always seems to grant vivid and strange gifts while sleepingVery happy

About the salvia thing, its funny how many people refuse to smoke my plain leaves cus they think its placebo, like they dont believe i am actually tripping..they're all wasting their money on some 40 times crap..

Ok, sorry I didn't read anything anybody had to say .

I was wondering what the detrimental side effect of cannabis are on dreaming. Someone mentioned before that you simply cannot dream while under the influence of cannabis.

Just wondering if this is all true, thanks for your help!

Also, are there any psychological side-effects to regular every day cannabis usage?

Unless i take melatonin with my pot before bed, i won't usually dream or remember it..
Even when i had calea, although it helped me get tired & my eyes heavy, the overpowered it & even with just calea i didnt notice much.

Im a regular pot smoker, but i did notice the times i had to stay clean for a month or longer that i was dreaming again, exsessive pot use can be pretty cloudy for your mind with some things..
Everything above me is really a lie... think for yourself & question authority!

I always remember dreams no matter what, however, when you smoke cannabis, youre endogenous melatonin levels peak at 1000's of times higher than what they normally do, which is what makes you tired..i know sounds impossable but true..
melatonin does not recycle through youre system so you end up pissing it out.

I eat a diet high in tryptamines because of this..

When you stop for a few days, even a day for me, you will usually notice an increase in melatonin production at night, so you will sleep better and have much more vivid dreams.

If you smoke alot, try eating some chick peas and a bannana a little before bed and take some a B complex vitamin(this will help with biosynthesis of diff tryptamines), or jsut take some melatonin.I take melatonin once and a while and it works great and I get more stoned with it.

saw this old thread. though i'd bump it up and add.

they say that we all dream every night. if that's so...why is it that i THINK i never dream? i, in my head, have 2 or 3 dreams a year and when i have them, i remember them fairly well. not just remember having a dream but can recollect it quite well. so, do i really dream every night? and if so, why can i not remember them most of the time?

i do currently partake of certain herbs but i went 2 1/2 years COMPLETELY sober (nothing...not even alcohol...had to get my shit together some years back) and still rarely dreamed. i feel like i sleep fine. i work manual labor and don't get tired until bed time so i doubt my sleep is "bad". maybe it is???

any thoughts? studies? citations/sources?

sweet dreams...
embrace your nothingness...it's all you are...
