So I have my GVG winging its way over the pond to me as I type this - and am of course very excited Cool but was wondering where I could find a(n equivalent to) the "Chore Boy" copper scrubbers? Also what is the best method of cleaning / degreasing it if I haven't got any acetone? IPA or Naptha maybe? Does the mesh work well when vaping Changa also, as this is my preffered form at the present moment.

My Arc arrived this morning, so I am am almost set to go!

Peace, <3, Unity,

P x

P.S. This GVG better be as good as you guys are constantly claiming, or else  Laughing

Ive tried with no luck. One option is to order a paid of "Volcano liquid pads" and cut them down to fit, this works well.

The easiest way to clean a copper disc is to heat it gently. The cutting oil used in manufacturing will smoke and burn off quickly (there isn’t very much to begin with).

The GVG is at least as good as all of us “converts” have been claiming. Just remember to start with a smaller dose than usual, or you’ll be in for a surprise.

I haven’t used the Volcano liquid pads, but members who have used both have said that the copper mesh works better.

Stainless steel ribbon works just as well, but another member mentioned to me that it imparts a metallic flavor that copper does not.

You can buy Chore boy copper mesh on ebay (that's how I got it) :
http://www.ebay.co.uk/sc...sacat=See-All-Categories

It's definitely much better than stainless steel mesh, it's much easier to shape into a disc and I haven't had any bleed-through since I use it.

P.S : once again, thank you gibran2 for the advice... Razz

Yeah, acetone works well for cleaning too.

Volcano liquid pad even with proper sizing was total failure and waste of 35mg of spice in my experience.

Stainless steel mesh/ribbon gave a metallic taste when I tried it, even after acetone soak...

Chore boy's gonna get it right each time... I love that guy!Laughing

Too bad my volcano liquid pad suggestion didnt work for some people. For me it works perfectly, I got no dripping or any other issue and breakthrough with around 25-35mg spice. I wonder if I am lucky to have cut it in some unlikely appropriate shape or something ?

Thanks for the link Very happy I have bookmarked the page for future reference as I'm going to see how these stainless steel scrubbers that I have just picked up do...

I was wondering this too, because some people had good results with the liquid pad, that's why I bought it.

I did cut it to the proper size, the size of the GVG bowl, not too small, not too big...

At the risk of sounding like a douche;
All my life I have been told and read that smoking from copper is extremely poisonous. My father has worked with metals all his life and is in bad shape because of it so I have had these things drummed in to me. I am really surprised to hear so many people singing its praises.

Stainless steel (or just steel) or cast iron are the only metals you should be inhaling from in my opinion, "they" say brass is fine but brass still contains copper so to play it safe I don't like to use it.

Aluminium is very bad for you too even though for some reason head-shops think its acceptable to use for bong heads and downpipes. It releases aluminium oxide when heated and that stuff will hurt you badly with the first symptoms being you losing your hair if you have enough of it in your bloodstream.

Please guys, I maybe new here and don't know anyone yet but I still care about your health!

The temperatures reached in the GVG are insufficient to facilitate reactions with copper – mainly the formation of copper oxides. So when used with the GVG, copper is not hazardous. (Copper-clad cookware is heated to higher temperatures than the copper in the GVG without problems.)

Inhaling copper oxides or copper vapor could be hazardous to your health. The GVG doesn’t reach anywhere near the temperatures required to produce copper oxides or copper vapor.

If one were to “burn” copper with a torch and inhale the fumes produced, they might be subjecting themselves to harm.

Ah ok, that does makes sense now.
Thanks for pointing that out, somehow I completely overlooked that it was being used in the Vapour Genie even though I now see its repeated throughout this entire thread. Smile

I didn't even think about the copper clad cookware either, but then again cheap frying pans are usually made out of aluminium too which which I have always steered clear of. But I guess I am biased for reasons mentioned before. Probably being a bit too careful.

I really need to get myself a GVG. Not a day goes by without it coming up in conversation.

Even when I heat the copper mesh prior to dropping the spice on it there is no sign of vapor and I tend to be very aggressive with my lighter, so I wouldn't worry Smile

Im in the UK and bought some copper scrubbers from the US via ebay; Ive used these and also medium weight steel wool in the GVG and both work very well indeed.

I tried the copper version after the good reports Gibran2 made about it and the functionality of both stainless steel and copper is pretty much identical but the copper one cannot be tasted, whereas there is a hint of a taste with the stainless steel.
I am paranoid of my brain. It thinks all the time, even when I'm asleep. My thoughts assail me. Murderous lechers they are. Thought is the assassin of thought. Like a man stabbing himself with one hand while the other hand tries to stop the blade. Like an explosion that destroys the detonator. I am paranoid of my brain. It makes me unsettled and ill at ease. Makes me chase my tail, freezes my eyes and shuts me down. Watches me. Eats my head. It destroys me.

I also bought copper mesh on ebay as suggested. It arrived very quickly from US. It is better then steel one but steel is fine too. Just make sure you clean it before use.

I was thinking about pre-heating the mesh before I followed smokerx's advice:
Just put the crystals on the mesh, put the filter on, and slowly inhale with heating for couple seconds before the spice melts. It definately doesn't lose any crystals and is much easier than pre-heating the copper mesh.

In my experience pre-melting DMT on the copper disc results in a smoother vapor, that's why I do it.
