MHRB is illegal to import into Australia as we all know... I'm wondering if anyone has had any luck obtaining Acacia? I'm from Western Australia where Acacia Acuminata is native but there's no solid source of where to find it (and heading into the Wheatbelt is a bit too epic at the moment).

Really I'm just looking for a decent Australian contact to help me out, especially if there's people from WA who have had some success(?).

Live plants. Sustainable, ethically sourced, native American owned.

You'll be hard out of luck if you're looking for people to tell you where to find a tree/s. It's something that takes allot of research and hard work to get results. I'm not from WA so I can't help you with basic information but The Corroboree is a great resource. Good luck, it's worth the effort!

The AU-Ethno community don't seem to like discussing DMT related topics but I guess it's worth a shot. Basically just curious *if* an Australian has had any success, how did they go about it. I'm all for putting in the effort and doing the research (I have with *everything else*) but I've come to a dead end.

Cheers mate.

I've heard Acuminata is a great source, one of the best. I'm not sure what you're asking..

The information on acacia distributions is easy to find. Think csiro or florabase or just much googing. You will not find anything worth the effort near the city you need to drive a little.

Yes, for me anyway, you need to drive allot and do lots of searching both on and off the computer. It's not in your back yard and you're not going to trip over it.

Yeah, I gathered that... However driving 4 hours inland way out of mobile reception on vague locations from flora base seems a bit epic. If I can get a bit more of an idea then I'm up for it.

Haha vague? You can get gps coordinates. Put the effort in and you will be rewarded, or don't bother.

GPS coordinates haha, must of missed that. I just saw dots the size of my city mapping out locations.

Cheers guys, if it all pans out I'll pass the info on to anyone else interested.

How ironic, the Acacia Acuminata is the emblem for the Shire where I grew up... Hoping to trek through my family's property and into the national park to see if I come up with anything. Plan B is checking out the 'standard' locations.

Ah, that's a really great idea. Thanks for the info Eluna! Appreciate it.

Update: Think I've got it organised now. I've found ridiculously detailed maps of a National Park which I've hiked through over 10 times. Not that I've ever taken notice of specific trees before but hopefully I come across something as it's secluded and I won't bother anyone. As a backup plan - I've found other government documents listing exact locations of what I'm looking for, some of them are on tourist routes and I don't really want to fuck with the vegetation so that's if worse comes to worse and there's a dense area where I won't bother anyone/anything. I've got Friday off work to go trekking.

Once again, cheers for the help. If it works out I'll update everyone with the info.

just know that your pretty much going to kill a tree if you take the bark off it.

Try and find some trees that have blown over and get the bark from that if possible.

I've taken it into consideration and I'll do my best not to destroy any vegetation. Obviously I need to be respectful being in a national park but I'll look into cleared areas too and see if I have any luck.

These are the areas I've been through a few months ago, just general bush walking (not Acacia hunting). I'm not after IDs, I can see a few yellow flowers around, I know the area is very shrub like & there's a lot of sandy/clay soil and it's close to a river so hopefully it all adds up. Any opinions?

..luckily aussie acacias are not mass wild-harvested, sold by suppliers as a commodity..MHRB scale harvesting of wild acacias would be hugely damaging, kill most trees, and deny nature the ongoing seed-stock..

if you get to know them as plants (friends), and do some research, you'll find what you need..
i've grown acacias from seed to 5-6ft in 3-4 years (with sun, water, lots of nitrogen, drained but moist mix)

i have seen (in the 90s and 2001-2) such appalling and greedy destruction in national parks that i broke down in tears..
this is why i don't like putting out locations on the net..

if you are really interested or 'called', you'll find 'em...

ps. look through the Trying to improve Acacia info. thread...there are a few candidates in WA, surely one near you...
