He there travellers,

It is that time of the year again we can go mushroomhunting again!!Maybe in other parts of the world people can go hunting all year round, but i live in the north of germany,so i'm keeping a close eye on the weather and the grass when i walk my dog.

I'm looking for the psilocybe semileancea(we know them in Holland as puntig kaalkopje, because of their distinct bald head with a tiny nipple on itCool .

This is the weatherforecast for the next week here.My guess is is't a litle bit to warm now(i heard that night temperatures should be below 10 degrees celsius. But do some of you experienced hunters think i could find some magical fungi?

I on vacation on a farm in Nedersaschen, and there are lots and lots of grasslands, some with horses on them, some with nothing on them etc.

So,whe i came to this idea and saw the possibilities i thought to myself, yes!MY dog will get a lot of extra excersiseVery happy (and my back to ,haha.

any tips or usefull information on the subject would fit nicely in this thread i think.

Best wishes to you all and search and you will find hahaha!
if the corn is asking you why you are suprised to see them dancing to your thoughts of them dancing to your thoughts, and friendly oaktrees behind it nod at you that they're friendly dwarves who are on their way to sing yoho yoho, then you know youre in the right place Smile

I picked 100 liberty caps in about 2 hours on saturday. Had to work hard to find them although I now have a deeper relationship with the field they grow in and shall take less time next week Smile

You are a very blessed personSmileCould you post pictures?

May i ask in which country you live and what the weather conditions where when you picked them and did you hunted in the morning?I'm really having trouble finding them.Either they're not here yet or i just don't see them. Most grasslands here that have horses on them, with tall grass.

Last night was the first time the temperature dropped below 10 degrees celcius. So i decided to go searching. In 2 hours i didn't find a single mushroom haha.

Any tips from experienced searchers?

Apologies but I didn't take any pictures of my little haul...

I live in the north east of England. It had rained quite a lot during the previous night and I went out about 11 AM in the morning and the conditions were still cool (approx 10-12 degrees celcius).

The field I found the libs in had a lot of rabbit droppings... the grass was short in places (2-3 cm) and there were mushrooms in this length grass although the mushrooms were mainly clustered in grass that was about 7-12 cm long, as that tends to keep them cool from rain and morning dew. I have found liberty caps in grass over 20-30 cm before, however it is difficult to find them, you really have to work hard and spread the grass as you search for them.

'They say' that it is best to search for liberty caps where there are grazing cows and sheep but I suspect they will grow in horse fields too... (I found mine in a field full of rabbit droppings) In my humble opinion the best place to search for them is behind small bushes where the ground is on the opposite side to where the sun shines as these areas are cooler and more condusive to growth.

Good luck finding some!

Two friends and myself found (and consumed) 210 liberty caps between us after a few hours of looking on Dartmoor just a few days ago. It's still a bit too early for sure, but we were more than happy with our haul. We each had around 70, of varying sizes, and interestingly they seemed much less potent than I have experienced in previous years (one year 17 libs shpongled me impressively!) so I think there are large scale variations in potency with regard to time of season and location. Was an eventful but much needed, enjoyable and therapeutic experience, including an encounter with a police officer early in the experience, one of our party passed out while standing up very suddenly, and we all saw a bizarre light in the sky.
