I thought so...Ive heard it being described to withdrawing from hard drugs, which I think is a bit of an exaggeration RE. heroin etc. But still, it has potential for grim withdrawals nevertheless.

Yup, no form of withdrawal at all, the most is I fancy having a coffee! December last year I gave up coffee for 2 weeks and no difference at all was seen. I find the same with tobacco. For me these things are just habits, not true addictions. I don’t get any form of physical withdrawal effect. I have drunk coffee heavily for somewhere around 2 decades.

I'll have a sip of someones every few months or so if that. I usually drink some herbal teas every day..but i'm already naturally wired so caffeine is never really necessary in the moarning

My friend drank way too much coffee and is now quitting it..he showed me this link the other day which you should all check out
http://caffeineweb.com/

stick that in your cup and shlurp it Wink

My experience does not agree with this. I certainly have withdrawals from coffee, its not herion or meth, but it is a stimulant that your brain adapts to. Anything that your brain adapts do will show a withdrawal response as it readapts to it's natural state. Marijuana included.
If your religion, faith, devotion, or self proclaimed spirituality is not directly leading to an increase in kindness, empathy, compassion and tolerance for others then you have been misled.

i drink a fair amount of coffee, but after reading this thread i don't feel so bad! haha.. holy crap. i thought a few cups a day was pushing it.

i sometimes drink it every day, usually in the morning and then after dinner. i really like it at both times of the day. then i will go for a few days without drinking any coffee.

i demand good coffee when i drink. too many people drink lousy coffee and it's just not good. quality is key!

Wow dude..thats way too much caffine. You must have incredible tolerance built up and that also means a physical addiction. When I stopped drinking coffee I had alot of headaches and irritability for a while. The stuff is too acidic for me but I really miss the taste of coffee. I drank probly 5-6 cups a day and have not had any in over a year. I drink a weak green tea and some times mate, also real weak. Not alot of it though.
Long live the unwoke.

I don’t have the issue with weed either. I think maybe there is something odd about the way these things work with me. I have always wondered what the fuss is with all the withdrawal issues people exclaim, moreso with caffeine, nicotine and weed. I have yet to find anything except a want to have a spliff or a cigarette. It is not as if I am a light or short term user of any of these things either, I have smoked since the age of 11 (22 years), was smoking weed since 11 to and daily since 13 and coffee heavily since 15 or 16, yet any of these things I can simply stop by not having them around me with no ill effects.

I think a key point here is how strong you make your coffee;21 cups of piss weak coffee is nothing compared to a mug or 3 of proper turbo-charged brew.

I have upto 3 mugs of coffee per day, approximately 400mls each and I put 3 very heaped large teaspoons of instant coffee per mug.Ive recently given up tobacco/nicotine and I find that a brew like this is somewhat more potent then when taken with a cigarette when I had a nicotine habit.
I am paranoid of my brain. It thinks all the time, even when I'm asleep. My thoughts assail me. Murderous lechers they are. Thought is the assassin of thought. Like a man stabbing himself with one hand while the other hand tries to stop the blade. Like an explosion that destroys the detonator. I am paranoid of my brain. It makes me unsettled and ill at ease. Makes me chase my tail, freezes my eyes and shuts me down. Watches me. Eats my head. It destroys me.

If i remember correctly there is a synergistic affect between the uptake of caffeine while on nicotine or vice versa. Tho we all know this anecdotally, im struggling to find the paper.

I use a Moka Pot, its a small size apparently for two espresso's, i like to use it for a single tall coffee topped off with hot water and a dash of soy milk. I normally drink 3-4 or so coffee's a week like this. 2 in one day is a bit much and my productivity drops off beyond one a day.

I couldn't imagine three of these in one day... 21 cups a day is just asking for heart trouble.

Hehe, I got into drinking really excessive amount of coffee from a moka pot when I was at college, I will happily chug through 3 6-cup pots on a day if I have lots to do. An amazing stimulant for me, probably the only one I truly value (and I love the taste too, so that’s a bonus).

Nowadays to moderate my consumption I make most pots with a 1/2–3/4 full basket, pour into a really big mug and top with hot water.

..i only drink Tea (as in Camillia sinuensis varieties)..anti-oxidants, diuretic (for cleansing) and theobromine as well (for mild ecstatic effects) ..

Coffee contains substances sometimes called 'burned sugars' that can cause heart arythmia and palpitations..
..many classical musicians and sports-people do not drink coffee for this reason (hand tremors) , while they can still cosume tea..

better without sugar in my opinion..feel the pure Tea high..Smile

Coffee.. One addition I haven't quite been able to kick.

I've successfully kicked my addictions to sugar, chocolate, cigarettes, weed, TV and processed foods. But with coffee if I don't have a cup or two I'm an unproductive zombie all day with the exception of the few days after a good DMT breakthrough. Wink

I don't really like the way coffee makes me feel either and the come down sucks. I much prefer the effects of yerba mate. Its smoother, gives me plenty of energy and feels more natural. But when there's a free pot of coffee waiting for me every day at work its hard to pass up.
Its the MeICNU

I drink one cup of strong Colombian coffee every other day and I've notice that when I drink it I get more dark toughs and I'm a little irritable that when I don't. So, as a result that's my next addiction to cut lose...

I usually drink 2 large tim horton's coffees (14oz) a day, so about 4 cups? One in the morning and one after lunch.
4 cups regularly. If I drink more than that, I always order decaf.

I once went without coffee for a month. I started drinking it again because there's something special about that morning cup; it's almost ritualistic. I can go without the lunch one just fine.

None, ever. The smell is really good, I must admit... But the once or twice when I tried a sip, it tasted too strong and 'persistent', like it leaves bad breath and stains the teeth.. I guess its an acquired taste, did you guys like it since the first time?

Plus I really dont like the idea that its physically addictive, I dont like being dependent on anything so I'd rather not go down that path.

I love the taste, it suits me much more than tea or other leaf infusions. I don’t love it so much that I could drink it without a fair amount of sugar too though, it’s far too bitter for me to like it like that.

I am not sure what I thought of coffee when I first tried it, or when it was! I come from a family where the drink of choice is coffee rather than tea, so I guess drinking it too was natural.

I have found with many foods and drinks with very strong flavours that it took me getting to my late teens to like them. Guinness, another drink with a strong and not typically enjoyable taste I can remember drinking for the first time. It was disgusting. I still managed to drink that and the rest of the 4-pack! Now 18 or so years later it is the main alcoholic drink I enjoy, other than red wine, I find the taste odd still, but enjoy it!

Yeah, I guess it's pretty safe to say I'm addicted to coffee. I'm actually drinking a cup right now. I used to hate the taste of it when I was younger also. I used to hate the taste of beer when I was younger too.

I've been working the past 15 years at the same job. Not only do I have to wake up at the crack of dawn but then I have a 45 minute drive in traffic till I finally get to work. Over time coffee has become my good friend!

I know it's not very good for me and I have cut down on it a lot. eventually I plan to make the switch to green tea. Right now I just cant imagine driving into work in the morning without it.

Then when work is finally over I just love an Ice cold beer!

not to rain on your parade jacetea, im guessing your a fellow canadian, unless tim hortons has migrated to the US, which i believe they have somewhat..

Tims coffee is a load of crap, like ill drink it if its free deal, (well if its the only stuff available ill drink it too) its really cheap coffee, you can tell from the first sip its weak, poor quality coffee, although I do feel quite tweaked after I drink it. I suggest you find some REAL coffee Smile

My coffee habits, well sometimes ill drink a few cups daily for a few weeks, and sometimes I wont't drink it at all, or drink mate tea.

Sometimes ill brew a cup and add 200-300mg extra of anhydrous caffeine, though that leads to headaches.
Putting drugs in coffee is tons of fun too.

Great in the winter on the mountain when snowboarding:

black coffee + 100mg MDMA crystals Very happy
