This is just to put the information out there for safety purposes... especially considering the relationship between psychedelics and mental illness. Personally, I feel the illness leads to usage majority of the time, but that obviously these chemicals can bring out latent illness. All you need to remember here is that neuroplasticity has been proven. All favorable feeling drugs will cause a release of dopamine even without directly binding these. That's the normal habit/addiction process. HPPD is likely just strengthened connections between particular regions of the brain.

Peronally, I believe tryptamine drugs' different physical structure causes a slight tweak in the way signals cross neurons which on a large scale would lead to all aspect being skewed. I think with time, these tweaks in electrical oscillations will be elucidated... we're just waiting on the next brave Shulgin.

Last week over a few days the following was done: 1 moderate dose, 1 breakthrough, and 1 mild experience with several tokes spread out. [side note: I think the notion of getting it all down within a very short period is only relevant to breakthrough attempts. DMT and serotonin will compete for the receptors... to break through would require a sudden high concentration before degradation in addition to serotonin quickly diffusing that high concentration... however, one can maintain a mild experience by continued low doses in order to maintain an effective concentration to get effects.. SINCE both dmt and serotonin compete for the same receptor, this makes sense that at low doses reality and hyperspace blend together rather than one dominating.]

Finally to the point... following these experiences, my present hypomanic state developed to mania. To say dmt is responsible is biased as a manic mindstate is irrational to begin with... no objective view can be made [to science standards anyways]. There were no unusual manic symptoms.... just the typical.... incessant, flight of ideas to the point I cannot control my ideas; so much built energy I feel as an overpressurized gauge about to burst; massive decline in appetite; nauseated by aromas/foods that I normally love. At times, psychosis-type symptoms came, however I've dealt with it long enough to control the insanity [well minimize potential danger].

Again, this DOES NOT mean that dmt will induce mania in bipolar individuals. What it does mean is that extra precaution should be taken... as I hope they would already know by even knowing what dmt is. Be aware that if you've experience psychosis, unlike psilocybin [in my 120+ trip personal experience with it], dmt seems to leave a residual effect.

Cliffs: In my personal case, dmt 'seems' to allowed hypomania to develop to mania while briefly turning to psychosis like thought.

Nexus: I'm stayin on this forum as it seems more knowledge and in-line with wholesome psychedelic use, but I will not continue personal experiments with DMT. Rather, I spreaded the love to a select few that were ready... the remaining I plan to experiment with... If anyone has a link for dmt -> psilocybin/-iline then please PM me.
