Since I'd not heard it mentioned before, I had to ask:
Does everyone have to cope with the residue left on the lungs from smoking DMT?

Every time I smoke, no matter the apparent purity (from pale yellow crystals to the waxy stuff) I am left hacking up DMT-smelling phlegm from my lungs for half an hour afterwards. A large hit can sometimes make breathing difficult during/ while coming out of hyperspace. Also my lung capacity is reduced for a while after, maybe a whole day.My friend, however, doesn't seem to have the same issue.

I cough up this white stuff that smells like dmt, and if I swallow it rather than spit it out, it makes me burp.

I find this strange because I have a pretty good lung capacity and a powerful diaphragm... Perhaps my lungs just remove this stuff sooner and more readily than others?

What do you think it could be? Just DMT or likely to be other chemicals like plant fats?

Smoking DMT as opposed to vaporising is much more likely to give the effects you describe; the pyrolysis of most things can make some people expectorate more so than others.

How are you smoking your DMT?
I am paranoid of my brain. It thinks all the time, even when I'm asleep. My thoughts assail me. Murderous lechers they are. Thought is the assassin of thought. Like a man stabbing himself with one hand while the other hand tries to stop the blade. Like an explosion that destroys the detonator. I am paranoid of my brain. It makes me unsettled and ill at ease. Makes me chase my tail, freezes my eyes and shuts me down. Watches me. Eats my head. It destroys me.

Through a bong, gently melted onto a layer of weed or tobacco and then with a little bit more plant on top, lit with a lighter and burned for a while without the flame, then the flame is passed over the bowl until it's empty.
I've had success in achieving space flight with this method, it has seemed easier to use than described by some though I expect true mastery of smoking spice will come from learning and playing... Does it sound like I'm doing something wrong?

Edit: Forgot to mention I get the same effect when I smoke only freebase using hot air from the lighter or heating the bowl with a torch flame.

I think it's your body's way of telling you something...let it out. Melodic has it right;

I must add that the white DMT feels smoother to the lungs than the yellow one.

However, often after coming down from the journey, I have this "DMT mucus" that I have spit out, even on the floor if there's nothing to spit intoLaughing . I feel like it's just the lungs cleansing themselves from the DMT vapor. Even if it's good stuff, it's still not part of our bodies, so we naturally remove it through natural ways. So one spit and that's all, not 30minute session like the first poster says. I think it has to do with the method of vaporization, with higher temps it will be obviously harsher and more difficult to remove.

Could be tonsil stones from the dmt molecule. I made a couple of threads about that problem. A way to see if it is tonsil stones is to put some dmt in your mouth and let it go to the back of your throat. If it happens again then it's tonsil stones.

No way, this is totally different. Just like smokers mucus. Just lungs cleansing themselves.

This is basically what it feels like, but it leaves me wondering where all that stuff goes in people that don't cough it all up afterwards!

I'm a pretty weathered smoker so DMT isn't really overly stressful for my lungs to smoke, though I do tend to hold in hits for a long time- up to a minute or more, possibly. Do you think this could be a contributing factor to excess matter in the lungs?

20 seconds is about all you need to hold it in for and a minute (if that is really how long you're holding it in for) is probably overkill. It may be having a negative impact on the experience to some extent because you want to achieve the delicate balance of holding your hits in for a while and at the same time you're trying to get as much DMT in you as quickly as possible (this is assuming you're taking more than one hit). Anyway, you can tell you've held it in long enough if when you go to exhale you don't see anything. Usually 20 seconds is all it takes for this to happen for me.

Whoa, 10 seconds is quite enough. And I highly recommend getting a smoking device which can deliver the dose in one hit, as GVG+copper mesh,my beloved.Wink

It goes to the same place where tobacco or weed phlegm go, probably to the stomach. As if this phlegm comes to one's throat, if one swallows it, I can't imagine it going back to the lungs...

I think if it's any A/B spice there's no problem with the spice purity. However, smoking method is important(temperature)
