Hurricane Irene took out my power for 3 days (just got it back last night). I usually prefer to smoke DMT in well-lit areas despite the hype about dimly lit/dark settings. Anyway, I figured I wouldn't pass up on the chance to smoke it in pure darkness and see if the experience were any different being that there was no electricity for miles.

I loaded up the GVG by lantern light, sent my brother off into hyperspace, did a quick reload and took two big tokes myself and turned the lantern off. I was vaguely able to see some colors outlining some entities. I had a lot of audio going, and just based on the rhythms and the quality of the sounds, I was able to deduce how they were moving around. Being that it was pitch darkness, having my eyes opened or closed didn't make a shade of difference in what I was seeing, so I decided to keep my eyes open. I could feel and vaguely see energies ripple throughout the room. In the corner of the room I noticed this pulsating glow surrounding an entity which captured my attention. It would be there, and then fade, then come back...and fade again.

I rotated my head and noticed the glow was illuminating a dresser. This didn't make any sense. It was 100% pitch black (no electronics could possibly be running) and it seemed as if I stumbled upon some super power that just didn't compute. I mean, I could understand DMT enhancing one's visual acuity, but with 0% light, it just didn't make sense how I could be making out something so well because of a strange white light an entity was emitting. I thought I struck gold.

Apparently my brother had noticed the glow too, and noticed me noticing it. He said, "you see it too?" We were a bit freaked out and were struggling to figure out where the light could possibly be from. As it turns out, his mac book somehow managed to go into power save mode before dying (mine just died) and thus the front white LED was slowly pulsing, though the LED itself was out of sight. It was a bit disappointing that I hadn't discovered a DMT super-power, but it also ended up being quite humorous as we freaked ourselves out over something so simple in a blackout.

heeheee! that sounds awesome. although i must ask- you say you had a lot of audio going, but how and with what? no power? i am just curious what you were listening to.

i tried smoking DMT in darkness but i ended up burning my finger accidentally. i must always have a light on when i do this stuff! it doesn't feel very safe otherwise.

i really want to try a GVG! sounds like the way to go

I meant audio hallucinations. I could hear the entities make sounds with each motion they made. Was sort of like a blind man tracking the commotion around him.

Global,

I did a similar thing last night, only for me, it was under the stars in the front yard. No GVG, so I had to use a metal pipe.

It was a wonderful experience; the trees tranformed into a wall of ziggurats in silhouette around the sky (now free of much of the light pollution. The walk back into the house in near blackness was a definite treat, too.

BTW, I am jeleous that you have your power back; I'm still waiting.... and waiting...

hey how is the damage and everything from the hurricane? i don't watch the news so i'm not up to date with this stuff. much of my family lives in New Jersey and i haven't really talked to them too much about the storm. is everyone ok up there? my dad lives in Virginia near DC and was right there for the earthquake, and now i have family that were just in a hurricane. they are all fine, but i was just checking to make sure it didn't leave tons of people dead like Katrina. i've never been in any natural disaster so i can't relate to these things.

I think there were something like 8 fatalities in total. Lots of damage depending on location. By me, lots of trees are down, and I've seen at least one house wrecked. I think on sunday there was something like 10 million people without power. After 3 excruciating days without, I finally got it back, and as much as I didn't take power for granted before, I'm even more appreciative of it now. I think the estimates are that some people won't have power back till Friday.

I was fortunate in that where I am there was only a little damage and little flooding. Most of the problem has been power outages, some of which may continue for another week. I have some friends in Vermont that are having a much harder time with flooding.

a few years ago we had a really bad ice storm right around Christmas and our power was out for a week. we toughed it out in my family's house for a few days because we had a fire place, but eventually it was too cold and we had to shut off the water to keep the pipes from freezing. our friend was kind enough to let us stay in her house, because at the time she had 2 houses and wasn't using the one at the time. so my family shacked up in our friend's house for Christmas and we exchanged gifts and everything there. it was really amazing and i will always be thankful for it.

i just had an amazing day and night yesterday hanging out with my friends and going to the Incubus concert and i am really happy and grateful right now.

also i recently discovered this song that The Roots played on the tv show Yo Gabba Gabba. http://youtu.be/-mLtdHQeIZA it is really beautiful and positive. sometimes i think that things just might be alright
