hi, (tap tap, is this on?)
like most cautious and curious creatures i've lurked into existence here. it's been a couple of months of getting to know the general vibe of the community and seeing if it was going to be the right fit before i joined as a member. thank you for the framework and guidance to begin exploration into the unknown. i respect the overall 'attitude' and discourse here and feel comfortable joining in the community. i'll skip the formalities of relating the depth and breadth of my experiences right now and save some mystery for later.

i'm typically shy and humble. i already have a small circle of dear friends that i can share my interests into the respectful and also recreational use of entheogens. respectful in the sense that it's not something we advertise or represent publicly. recreational in that we do venture into the far reaches of irreverent and hilarity at times... other times solemnity and infinite gratitude. you guys already know what i mean i'm sure...

a bit about me in the 'real' world. I'm just a john doe. i blend in. i dress plainly. i don't broadcast my music or unique tastes for all to see. i'm hard to get to know and while i probably seem typical and generic to most people, most people seem overtly 'normal' to me. i'm just different in my interests, which not a lot of people share. i'm a medical professional, and i keep my professional and personal life separate. i'm not into sports, network tv, gaming, whatever most people are discussing as the current trendy event. don't care about celebrities. I'm informed on political issues but am not an activist. i lean toward the left, but agree with the philosophy of the right occasionally. i don't like discussing politics, religion, or measuring dicks. i'm self educated beyond my 'station in life', which i'm comfortable with. i don't care what you think about me, but i'm very concerned with personal integrity whether you understand where i come from or not. (sorry for all the negative form there)

i'm a very musical soul. i'm not a musician, but appreciate and spend countless hours seeking out 'good' music. i say 'good' in quotes because i repect individual difference of what constitutes good. for myself, i love downtempo world fusion/electronica foremost. ancient and modern technologies blending... my favorite authors are jorge luis borges and robert anton wilson. i live in the desert and i'm nocturnal. a good strategy for living here...

i'm in my early 40's and have been exploring entheogens for more than half my life. age is just a number to me, i'm not an old soul or a young one. surely i'm hard to pin down, but maybe you'll figure out who i am before i do Smile

on spirituality... i'm definitely an agnostic in the truest sense. my mantra is 'i don't know'. i hesitate to say what something 'is'... but won't hesitate to offer possible explanations for phenomenon i find interesting, with the disclaimer that 'i don't know' beyond my own experience. your mileage may vary...

i tend to be an observer first, a deep thinker next, and a sage rarely. i will reply to posts more often than i will start them myself, i have a tendency to mirror others. i will offer opinions but i'm not married to them, my interpretation is always subject to revision. don't be afraid to challenge me, reply sarcastically, slice and dice me witfully with humor, correct my facts or spelling. i actually welcome this as part of the growth process.
until the next post...

Hey snake doctor,
Thanks for taking the time to introduce yourself. This was a very thorough introduction essay.

Welcome to the DMT-Nexus! Just out of curiosity, is DMT in your list of experienced entheogens in the past 20 years, or is this a new thing for you?

I am glad to hear the framework, and guidance here, have been of help to you. We are always working to try and improve and expand the way we go about these things. It's inevitable with the influx of new members, years passing, and neurotransmitters metabolized.

Anyway, it's good to have you here! looking forward to hearing more in the future!

Peace + Hyperspace

thanks for the reply ۩. it's nice to be welcomed by a regular here. yes, dmt is new for me. i was gifted an introductory vaporized experience by a fellow psychonaut a few months ago and i broke through my first time. the experience itself was very similar to what i had envisioned, but of course the absolute wonder and awe it evoked was beyond expectation. i knew it was going to be gorgeous and beyond belief, and it definitely exceeded that.

i'm fairly experienced in parallel tryptamine dimensions through other more prominent, popular allies. my first encounter with the dmt 'molecule/spirit' (still fleshing out proper syntax and wrapping my head around it) was not a rushed or hurried affair, nor did i actively seek it out, we just happened upon each other serendipitously. when the student is ready the teacher appears? although i don't feel as if it's so much a teacher as a true ally... without any authoritative tone, just acceptance, patience, and a wonderful childlike co-discovering exuberance. Smile

a friend once told me that you don't find it, it finds you... so, it's taken many years (10+) for the experience to intersect with this timeline, but the time is here and there are very few close to me who speak this new language.

i look forward to sharing experiences and knowledge with like minded travelers.

Hi snake doctor,

Welcome to the Nexus. I really enjoyed reading your intro and response. I suspect you're going to really enjoy it here and we're really going to enjoy having you here. You sound fun, honest and intelligent to me. That will be well received.

There are many fine extraction teks in the wiki, which you may have seen being a long time lurker. It's actually not at all difficult to extract at home, should you choose to continue your explorations. I suspect there's still a lot for you to see and experience.

Again, welcome. Very happy

thanks for the warm welcome everyone.

after my initial experience with dmt i definitely wanted to explore this space further, and apparently they also wanted to get to know me better because it found me again. this time in a way that will allow for many experiences. i've had around 10 experiences to date... all vaporized in a cheap glass pipe. 5 were this past sunday alone. after getting a feel for the space and refining my smoking technique a little i've broken through on all but 2 occasions. the last 3 experiences were all within an hour and i found it became increasingly easy to just slide right in. i'm definitely fascinated, astonished, amazed, thankful, perplexed, and inquisitive regarding these experiences. and a few more adjectives that haven't been invented yet! Smile

aside from my recent dmt exploration, i'm also very experienced with our fungal friends. i occasionally partake of lsd and (rarely) mdma. sometimes i like to combine those or augment with some nitrous. i definitely prefer to keep it natural, but i have experienced 2C-I. it was ok, but i'm not a big fan of stimulants. i don't use any pharmaceuticals or prescription medicine. i might have a toke or two of some cannabis if i'm on vacation, but only if its very high quality and if it happens to get passed my way. i'm mainly interested in pure psychedelic experience. i don't care much for 'body highs'. i do drink alcohol regularly, and i'm a big fan of craft beer... i'll spend 15 on an interesting bomber of beer before wine or liquor.

so heres a little bit more about me and my philosophy regarding entheogens... i use them in many different ways, and see them as a natural extension of our depth as humans whether that is having fun, being serious, exploring the unknown, self development in the areas of emotion or spiritual practice. etc... i'm open minded and non-judgemental as to how others want to use them, but i prefer to use them recreationally in a small group of trusted friends out in nature or for deeper exploration, i prefer to go it alone, eyes closed in a dark room and some awesome music. surprisingly (to me) i prefer to do dmt in silence with a candle, this isn't like me to not have music playing, but i wanted the initial experiences to be as 'pure' as a possible. i'm also eager to try in the early morning next to a small creek... my favorite time and place for entheogens!

i haven't read too many of the experience reports here yet. this was mainly to avoid 'preconceptions' but with a few amazing experiences of my own i'm ready to compare notes and contribute another small piece to this amazing puzzle.

If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude.

I immediately put snake doctor up for recommendation to be promoted, but no moderators have gotten around to it yet. Maybe they will now?
