humblebee wrote:so I assume buying naptha online is not a good idea, I'd like to try my very first extracton. I planned to use the sb evap method, not freezer. Will these other products like Bestine and Mineral spirits work? I haven't been able to find heptane. Bestine will work, but you'd be leaving a LOT of goodies behind since it's such a selective solvent. If you order some D-Limo, it's less suspicious to buy online as it's such a general cleaner. The only bad thing about D-Limo is it takes awhile to get it from the made supplier. G T are the initials so you can find it in the suppliers section. If you do some Bestine pulls, just make sure you keep the solution for when you get the d-limo. That way you can get all the goodies out. Convert a melodic element into a rhythmic element...

I have no idea about mineral spirits. Maybe some of our more chemically inclined members can help with that. Maybe start a new thread if there isn't one already. Acetone is a no go because it's a polar solvent and won't form a layer on top that you can remove. It will just blend right into the mix. The next best bet is Xylene or Toluene as both of these will pull all of the goodies but they are pretty stinky. Convert a melodic element into a rhythmic element...

I read that using coleman stove gas (naptha) is not advisable, but right next to it, on the same shelf at REI there was "refined" stove gas which is naptha. It was a little more expensive; would that work? Upon return from hyperspace-"Wow I have a body with arms and legs and everything!"

Noticed this too... Industrial Maintenance Stripper looks sketch. I went to another store and found naptha though... looks like we better stockpile like the depression before all the stores run out. Or, y'know... increase the frequency of our Nevada trips.
