I'd been smoking weed for 7 years straight, with almost no breaks. I felt like I needed to make some changes so I decided to quit like 3 days ago and other than not getting enough sleep I feel amazing. I haven't experienced this kind of mental clarity in a looooooong time. I have so much more focus and energy, and I feel generally happier. Reading through this thread has helped me solidify my determination. Thanks all. Now if I could only quit the cigarettes and alcohol...

Good quality Syrian rue (Peganum harmala) for an incredible price!

not a miracle cure, but one can have a much easier time quitting cigarettes or other addictions with a strong iboga experience

unwanted side effects include dying in a small percentage of people, btw
blessed be all forms of intelligence

Quitting weed was one of the best things I did. In the end you can see that it actually is highly addictive to some people, especially when smoked with tobacco. I feel like it's a medicine for problems that I don't have, therefore why would I use it just because it gives a "high" as a side-effect?

I recommend anyone who's smoking daily for long time to try how you will feel after 2-3 week brake, and then see if weed is really the thing for you or not.

Weed definitely improved my general outlook on life from when I started, as an artist it always helped me be more creative and productive, and I don't think music would be as big of a part of my life as it is now if I hadn't spent those countless hours smoking and listening to jams. So, as long as I am able to slow down significantly I don't want my relationship with weed to end completely. Perhaps like some have said before, once or twice a week would be ideal.

I don't quit...I just take breaks...a couple weeks or months off can do the body good, but you gotta do what's right for you.

Rolling herbal cigarettes (mint, caapi, damiana, a sprinkling of mapacho) once a day (usually in the evening) can satisfy the oral/flame/smoking fixation and make breaking much easier while still being essentially "cold turkey".

I just took two months off and wow...little pinches will take me FAR...the simplest/easiest way to conserve weed; wreck your tolerance Razz

for sure.. i take brakes from weed every now and then, specially when I dont get any effect from it. I do need weed, in the regard that i cant live without it since I have a neurotical mind that tends to anxiety and anger. weed mantains my neurosis really chilled, so i would say is a medicine I need. i have a lot to thank to weed, being until now, the most beloved hallucinogen i have meet.

I am with those man who own that particular kind of courage of the interior voyager.

I have seen some people who smoke it because it calms their nerves, but after the effects wear off they become just more nervous, sometimes just fixing it with another weed session. I'm just saying this because weed has many types effects, depending on the person.

I'm kind of glad I used to smoke weed, but to be honest I was addicted to it, and I feel like addiction to anything is just bad, like one has less control or freedom.

This is where i want to be for sure, it's like medicine when ingested and you can't really eat it everyday due to tolerance so its almost naturally non addictive like mushrooms

I am so encouraged by these posts! After a recent "too-far-gone" instance with my beloved MJ, I decided it was time to switch things up. (For those who told me you could never reach an "uncomfortable level" with cannabis it's obvious they just haven't been there yet. It exists.)

I would also like to echo those who admit that cannabis is addictive. I am a believer now for sure. I feel such a difference in my life. Perhaps it is more of a mental than physical addiction, but that is just anecdotal if anything. I have come to a point where I feel that I can replace cannabis with other substances. Cannabis was really holding me back - as Jamie said, "a crutch drug".

It's Day 5 of cold turkey and I do feel better. I think ending with a negative experience helped me really make the jump. I don't plan to give her up forever, just take a tolerance break and general detox. I have also quit drinking, which has also aided the detox.

Hoping this frees up more time for changa and DMT Pleased

Funny that you would resurrect this thread just now, as I am about to take a break for a month or so too. For a few reasons - it's clean up time for the body and I need to reset a few habits including the old wake and bake which I slipped into sometime last year. I have no desire to stop permanently though. Cannabis and coffee is one of my favorite combos and I also love to smoke before a bike ride or skiing Thumbs up but have realized I have been using it to avoid some things I don't like about my current situation instead of fixing the situation itself.

It is amazing what even just a few weeks off will do to tolerance. After some time off it's almost like it is a different drug.
Images of broken light,
Which dance before me like a million eyes,
They call me on and on...

very similar to what others have already said, I smoke almost everyday, usually at night after work to relax. Every once in a while I'll take what I call a 'tolerance break', basically whenever I run out of weed I would simply not buy anymore for a week or more (sometimes up to a month or so). that way it gives my body time to gain a tolerance so I don't have to smoke as much when I pick it back up again. I'm currently on a tolerance break since last weekend, first day or so is the hardest cause all that's on my mind is smoking, but after that it's really easy.
A dramatic shift approaches...

My trick was to stay off weed totally for about 5 months straight, after that it was no problem to only smoke when i really wanted to.

Although i did smoke some jwh a few times during this time but it was mostly to be reminded of the cb receptor feeling.

Im def not saying you should replace cannabis with jwh or similar chems, i only smoked em maybe 3times during this period since i was craving abit and didnt want to ruin my weed break.

Load up with all kinds of relaxing herbs like kava kava, chaomile, lavender etc.

That should help you sleep or just chill during the time you dont smoke.

But i would def take at least 3months off, that way you will be totally free from any thc that has built up and your mind can reset from the cannabis.

ah this thread!

ive been smoking for 6-7 years quite consistently; usually once a day at least.

I dont get ripped on joints and i smoke single hits or what some would consider a 1/2 hit and a Q can last me for 4 weeks to 2 months , the more it dries out and becomes crystal the smaller the hits get until i stretch it out at the end.

I find once you have the first smoke in a day, there is no stopping a pinch here a pinch there [at minimum] until i fall asleep late at night and the morning 'hangover' can be potent.

I love what it does for me, it is a great teacher and friend but after that first smoke of the day and great high, im a changed person for the rest of the day and are in some way in a haze or dulled out (hence keep getting little highs throughout the day).

My answer or balance with ganja is to smoke when i've accomplished the day and when the sun is on its way down or its nighttime. Like to say i follow it perfectly but my goals of working out are definitely impeded after that first toke of the day, after i finish a hard workday of 11 hrs its so tempting to relax and ganja is my relaxing buddy, but from there on my potential of possible stuff to have done that day has completely shifted!

you either have to suck it up and just do it all before smoking that day and be fine with days without smoking and days with over indulging or make compromises with yourself OR quit cold turkey!

but really you have to wonder if your high all/most of the day [or burnt out] are you impairing your own freewill of this life; is it worth it?

This sounds like a positive goal, SHroomtroll. Break the tolerance, the "lifestyle", reset/de-cloud the mind. Then come back to her like a long-lost treasure.

I think this could be good...

I quit about 4 months ago after smoking multiple times a day for over a decade. As others have posted, I used to "need" it just to get through my day, to eat, to sleep, to interact...

There were many reasons I decided to quit, but the number one reason was because I wanted to ACTUALLY have dreams again, and eventually learn to consistently become lucid in my dreams. In addition, as Jamie posted, it was also just becoming a "brick on my shoulders" and I knew I needed to change. I hated how my life was becoming so cyclical, with three bong rips preceding nearly every activity.

Now, my mind feels so much more clear, and I can actually feel my recall getting better on a daily basis. Also, now that I'm not always stoned in my free time, I can read amazing books in short periods of time, whereas before I would end up reading the same sentence over and over and over again.

Endlessness gave a great response by saying that exercise and new hobbies are the best "medicine" for withdrawals. No matter what, the first 5-10 days are horrible, but life gets SO much better!

4 months later I can honestly say I'm healthier, and happier than ever. Not to mention, that I FINALLY had my first lucid dream last night (/me pats myself on the back :grinSmile

I still smoke about once a month, or on special occasions, and it is much more intense and rewarding. Moderation really is an important aspect of life.

Peace and Happy journeys

I quit smoking 2 weeks ago and am starting to really feel the fog lift (thank god) I was smoking a half ounce ever week or two. Forna couple months then I finally decided to give it up. I love life sober. I quit cigarettes almost 2 years ago. That was truly one of the best decisions I've ever made in my life. I was a 2 pack a day + smoker and smoked for 6 years. I'm completely sober now. All this experience and I'm only 21. Better to get all the drug use out of the way in your younger years than get caught in that nastiness later on in life. Thats the way I look at it Smile I can honestly say I'm never smoking weed again and it feels great. I feel ive gotten everything I needed out of MJ. We had a lot of fun. I still partake in DMT and salvia for insightful purposes.

The hardest are the first couple of days.

Ideally you add a new hobby or something that will use your time productively. Starting to do regular exercise (aerobic, sweating) or upping your normal exercise if you already do that is a good idea. So is eating well. Playing guitar, reading books, etc.. Doing the exact same as you used to do and just changing the non-weed thing is the worse, because everything will remind you of weed.

All of these things help symbolically and literally by creating new behaviors which take your time away from thinking about or smoking weed, which remind you of being healthier, which help with the elimination of fat-stored thc, etc.

I strongly suggest that when you do smoke, you only do it after you have had your daily/weekly responsibilities solved. This way you can just smoke and enjoy instead of having your conscience nagging on you from the back of your head Very happy

I feel the best thing to do for myself is not smoke during the week and smoke only weekends (though this week im guilty of breaking those rules Razz ), and also avoiding the wake and bake thing. So durng the weekends I like to wake up and have a nice breakfast, get some work done, clean my room, whatever, go exercising, have good lunch and only then smoke. It saves up on weed, it encourages being more productive, and my conscience feels good Smile

Wish you good luck, and do tell us if you find anything that works for you Smile
